Multipurpose bitmaps

Post by kibito87 »

Does anybody know a nice and effective way of editing these suckers. I haven't found a very good one. I was trying the color balance in photoshop but it's not giving me what i'd like... Basically, my cyborg's armor is kind of pastel like, and I don't like it that way...

go to your original bitmap (after saving it) then Image>Adjustments>Color balance. (works best for me)
Red: Detail. This controls how much detail will be shown in these areas colored in red.

Green: Light map/Glow. This controls how much a color will show up as bright or vibrant on your texture. Example, you wanted something on the master chief to look like a LED light? Then edit the multi on the correct spot to make it glow. Ill show you in screens for this below.

Blue: Cube map Play aka. Shiny! This will control the reflective surface the maps cube map will play off the texture. You want something super shiny then make the multi all blue. Tacky but it works.
Bungie usues magatena on many things to even out detail and shininess.

I tried using the color balance but it just wasn't working out. I suppose I could try on the normal bitmap... I noticed on the normal masterchief multipurpose, it's quite pink and blue. I'm guessing the pink is a mix between the detail and the shiny-ness...?
