framerate is proportional to game speed

Post by DrJaul »

i recently had to upgrade my comp to a socket am2 system i have 2 gigs of ddr2 ram and dual sli-ed 8400 gs gpus. (i dont mean to brag...this is purely in the interest of seeing if the hardware is causing the problem)

so halo, in theory at least, should run like a charm. but, not so much sadly. i do get ridiculous frame rates but my problem is the game speed is directly proportional to the framerate. meaning that when i get 100 frames per second, the game looks like it is being fast fowarded in a vcr minus the high pitched squeeky audio. btw the audio is perfectly normal it just lags really far behind. so my question to you is is it a driver problem? a hardware problem? or is something screwy with my game? i did recently reinstall it, and that didnt help

I think it's drivers, have you tried updating to the latest?

The nvidia 8400GS cards are not SLI compatible contrary to popular belief.
I know this due to having read a lot of topics debating the issue.

You can force vertical sync with the Nvidia panel. That should fix what you call "tearing".
