Does anyone have asthma?
So I stalled until the last minute to get my report on asthma done. Does anyone have asthma? How long have you had it? How do you find out? Have you had severe asthma attacks? What do you do about it?
If anyone could answer these questions, that would be great. Thanks.

Not removing this 'till I get back. Leaving on [01/05/09]
Used to have it when I was younger. You can tell you have it if you are winded easily and can't run without taking several break in the process to catch your breath. I have had one asthma attack that I can remember. I was like 8 maybe and was going to sleep when my lungs felt empty and I couldn't take in very much air. Felt a lot like I was suffocating slowly, eyes started watering and was panic stricken.
But I no longer have asthma. I run track and exercise several times a week, and can even run a little bit of long distance.

I have exercise induced asthma (scientific term? Probably not.) or something of the sort. It takes a while, but something like running more than a mile or sprinting will get me, but not while I'm running. Once I'm done and I stop moving, then it hits me. Count it, I guess.
I've had it for as long as I can remember, and like I said, it comes on after heavy exercise. Never had an "attack," as I anticipate it, and I just sit down and have to think about breathing in and out regularly. It never gets me unawares. I've gone to my doctor and told him about it, but he says it's not run-of-the-mill asthma, and I've just left it at that. It doesn't affect me that much to be what I call a serious problem.

Same for me. I used to have a inhaler when I was really young, but I don't need it anymore.shadowkhas wrote:I have exercise induced asthma (scientific term? Probably not.) or something of the sort. I have fat-induced asthma
I got it by eating to much subway, and not exercising
I've had it since I was 10 years old
I've had many terrible attacks, and need an inhaler on me at all times or I could die! It radically affects my social life as well
I usually smoke pot-stuff to control it.

Used to have asthma, was brought on by Cat's.
Got rid of the resident cat then 3 days later was told it was run over by a arctic lorry.
Meh.

NO...I said I don't have an illness...it's just a fact that I CANT get Asthmametkillerjoe wrote:You mean you hyper ventalate? I have never had asthma.

Underaverage sized lungs, overaverage breathing freqeunecy. (You don't notice it...I'm the best in my sports class because it's not a disadvantage)

...left for good
you can get asthma...dosnt matter how big or small your lungs are.
at one time my lungs were 25% the capacity of what they should have been and i got asthma for a short while even then.

Dude, the capacity is obviously not relevant for Asthma, but the breathing speed/frequency is.warlord wrote:you can get asthma...dosnt matter how big or small your lungs are.

... not an illness. In medicine, hyperventilation (or overbreathing) is the state of breathing faster and/or deeper than necessary, thereby reducing the carbon dioxide concentration of the blood below normal.[1]
