That made me laugh a little bit. :P
ditto

also keep enough money to replace a computer if something bad happens or to replace a part never get caught with a balance of $00.00 in your wallet or bank if you make a huge scratch on someones mother board on accident you have to be able to replace it and possibly plus a little for the down time to compensate them.

and i think it is not agood idea to charge someone $30 for fixing problems like oh your forgot to plug this in or oh this wasn't on if its stuff like that I'd charge around $200 or double what ever geek squad. im just joking I'd charge around $20 it depends on what the problem, give them estimates on how bad the problem is and once you figure out whats wrong charge them for the time and labor and if necessary charge them by the hour.

i remember my friends computer was all screwed up because his 2 younger siblings used it and it had so many OS problems you might as well take a hammer to the motherboard, so finally his parents said screw it lets get a new computer bought a new e machine package with a monitor the computer itself and a canon printer with vista home premium before they were playing it, it was having twice as many problems if not more then before.

well guys gotta go to bed after i see what my typing speed is i tihnk i doubled in speed from last year or something i am typing really fast compared to what i used to be its amazing how i have improved.

well cya good luck with your business..

Plus the locked contract. I think it was 2 years? My dad got burned on that when he was looking for a new phone before he settled with Verizon and the Blackberry Curve.

I was being serious.

Sure, you may lose $30 next time they have that problem, but in exchange, what you get is a trusting customer. They'll respect you and be ready to cal you next time they have a problem. And, trust me, the best advertising for a small business is word of mouth.

I know you were being serious, and I couldn't agree more. I was just elaborating on what Kirk said, because I thought OmgMuffin was confused with what he said.

Also just a tip.
I'd recommend you get a Anti-Static wrist strap, or gloves. The last thing you want to do is zap a part, put it all together. Then it won't turn on, and you'll have no idea what's wrong.

Wrist strap:

Gloves:

Choose wisely...

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Except there's no way I'm getting them from newegg, the shipping is more than the price and will end up costing me like $10 :P So mb I'll just pick some up at CompUSA or somewhere sometime.

Well, you should start with a good amount of money, so if anything happens that you need to spend money on you won't be broke. And you don't want to ask your customers for money before you actually fix it.

Ok, I'm at my cousin's house and his computer sucks. But he wants to play GoW and Mass Effect on it, so I said I'd help him pick out some new parts, so I guess I'm doing kind of a little practice job. The problem is, his computer was made custom by some guy from scratch. It's even got a special gaming case with a side pane and everything, I'll post later. But I need to find out what models of the parts he has. Here are his specs to start-

-AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU @ 1.8GHz (it's single core, and idk the pin count)-around 512 MB RAM (idk pin count or speed)
-open slots: 3 PCI, 1 AGP 8X, and a little short grey one

Mass Effect hasn't been officially announced/confirmed for PC...it isn't even listed on GameFAQs.

Well, the box says "Only on Xbox 360" Then again that probably just means that's the only current platform for it, not that it's an exclusive title.

There is currently no evidence that it is even being MADE for the PC.
