The Official Rant Thread
I used to be afraid of getting shots, but now I sort of find it amusing, for some reason (no i'm not a junkie).
I definitely have a minor form of arachnophobia, as most people have. It's more of the thought of getting bitten more than the spider itself. I have vivid memories of getting bitten by them... Like when I grabbed my shirt after waking up and a spider that had sat there for the night nailed me. Thankfully it wasn't poisonous or anything like the Brown Recluse, in fact it just got red for a few hours then went away, but I just have big fears of that sort of thing.
As for the big needles Munsie described as I was writing this post, i've never had one used on me, so I can't say. I can tell that it'd just be weird, though.

My dad was bitten on the nose by a Brown recluse when he was a kid, nearly died.Kirk wrote:I definitely have a minor form of arachnophobia, as most people have. I don't like shots, but I can stand the needles they use for drawing blood.
I have horrendous arachnophobia, though. A couple months back, I was at a friend's house, and we're playing Halo 2. I looked over to grab a drink, and just as I looked over, a spider jump about 4 inches into the air over my arm, and landed on the other side of it. Scary.

I searched Brown Recluse Bites. Fuck Kirk, I'm not officially afraid of anything with more than four legs.

@ phobia discussion:
I used to be scared of needles due to some bad childhood experiences. As well as spiders and the dark. I got over the dark issue really fast, and I slowly started to not care about spiders. I've been bit by a few and it's really nothing new to me, if I see one I just smash it and get on with life. And I just recently got over my needle phobia by getting my lip pierced... That's pretty much the reason I did it really. I get rid of my fear by confronting it, and it seems to work out just fine.
I'm only scared of being bit by a hobo spider or brown recluse spider. I've never seen a brown recluse, but I've seen a few hobo spiders running around my house. So I bought sticky pads and set them up in my house. It's pretty nasty, it's covered in all sorts of spiders..
I've seen that spider bite pic before. It's really interesting... I wonder how they fixed that.

Eh, I don't think there's any room to worry. Every house I've been in has had a lot of spiders running around in it, and I've run into some pretty nasty ones, but I hardly ever get bit. The chance of being bit by a spider in the first place is low, the chance of it being poisonous is even lower. I think you're goodkibito87 wrote:Now i'm all paranoid about those spiders. If the Cloverfield monster is a spider of sorts, I'm going to get very angry for you spoiling it for me.noscottno wrote:I just look away from shots :XV0Lt4Ge wrote:I have that one...Veegie wrote:Scarily, phobias can become so prevalent that they develop into a genetically passed disease. My second rant: Not worth it
(I knew what it was though, I was trying to get us OFF such a bad topic...)
