sapien problem

sapien problem

I export my map using 3ds, make the shader environment tags, and make the scenario file using tool. Now when I try to open it in sapien, it loads..then it closes suddenly. Anyone know why?

Make sure you run radiosity in tool....this is the code:

tool lightmaps levels\yourmap\yourmap yourmap 0 0.000001

IF you are releasing your map:

tool lightmaps levels\yourmap\yourmap yourmap 1 0.000001

If that doesnt work, uninstall and install your Halo Editing Kit.

Strider he hasnt even got there yet, everytime he opens his map it closes before it loads.

m13120 read your debug.txt in your halo custom edition folder right after you try to open it (near the bottom). It should say the problem there.

Your tags maybe corrupted. did you extract anything with HEK+ that is a common error with extracted tags because people forget too uncheck "overwrite exsisting tags" in the options reinstall HEK and it will fix this i think.

also you may just be haveing probs with the export or tool. check for degenerate triangles and stuff.

I dont know if it matters, but I always add a sky to the scenario before opening it in sapien....

go to gurilla and add a sky, it's pretty simple and chances are you know how if you've gotten this far :P

How do you do that, In tool? Cause as soon as you open sapien it asks for you to open a scenario.

1=RELEASE

Inferno nailed it, when Sapien does that it most likely because something in the tag is missing. For example the model for the sky tag you are using could have been moved or deleted. Either pick a different sky or find out what is wrong with the one you have.

when i try to run radiosity in tool it says that i dont have any lightmapped triangles on the map how do i fix this?

Back up, and attempt to open your scenario in Sapien again. Let it crash, and after it does, open your debug.txt file. Scroll all the way down and post the last set of errors that appears there in

 tags.

Debug.txt is located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\.

I guess Sapien doesn't like your BSP, well, I have no idea.

Something in your tags say -1 I think. Just look though the tags and fix anything that has the value of -1.
