converting to trial maps+ other questions

Post by willtheoct »

alright, its been a while since i asked, and i never got helpful responses.

anyway, you cannot PMI in trial. to put hunters and grunts and elites into the trial, you would have to PMI the full edition then convert it. I'm not sure how BYOM was made, but i want to do something like it. i mean, BYOM didn't have hunters or AI. also, i have tried HMC and the other converter, forgot the name.. and it didn't work. someone said it only converted headers.

and i will go to any length of work to convert full maps to trial. i just don't know what to do.

other question: i want to insert objects into a map. sparkedit has the ability to duplicate objects and change them to anything in their tag, but if the object(like enemies) does not exist, the most you can do is put them in a seat on a vehicle, or change some rock's ID to the object you want.

how do i insert any object i want?

another question: i saw the grapplehook mod, and whenever i set the speed that an object moves to something negative, it won't work. how do i pull some object towards myself, or how do i pull myself towards something?

there are hunters and grunts and elites in the b30.map file.

You would use sparkedit. I have never tried to do that so i don't know.

@ipod: PMI into trial isn't as easy as demo. Demo you can just demo hack and use HHK to import your stuff. Trial has to THMT which works exactly like HMT for rebuilding but uses a different magic value or something.

THMT is what you need. HMC and HMVC only do headers as you heard, but from what I've seen, even header converted trial maps don't rebuild correctly with HMT. This website ought to help out a bit more. Works the same from what I remember, but there was an issue with magic.

oh...wait, what is the difference, shouldn't they be exactly the same? i mean the games not the process.

There's no important difference between the files (there is a very minor one surprisingly). The issue was that HMT doesn't rebuild the files correctly even if it had a hacked header. Not exactly sure why but that's why THMT exists.

for my second question, i found a near solution. it works great until you play the game.

open the map in HHT. then, switch the tag you want(in this case a biped) to a vehicle or scenery tag. then, in sparkedit, import the tag into scenario, and duplicate a vehicle or scenery. then, swap the duplication with the tag. i created multiple cyborgs and stuff, and the game worked, but there were no cyborgs. i'll experiment a little more with it, maybe i'll find a way.
