For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.
Right, quick sky skinning tutorial.
Firstly, the sky has a big influence on the way a map feels. You need to decide what time of day you want for a start.
I went for 'early morning', so the sky has a weird gradient to it, similar to a sunset. I went for a few photoshop gradients, keeping the position of the sun in mind.
Next you need to skin the stars to match the time of day. I went for one star per tile, which means that there would be a few stars in the sky, but not too many.
I told you it was going to be quick.
