team fortress 2

seeing as how i got the orange box for my birthday, i recently got TF2, and it's really impressed me.

from the first screens and videos i saw, i thought it was too cartoony, and it felt foreign to me. but now that i've played it, i really like it!

it has solid gameplay, appealing visuals, and really requires teamwork. but one thing that sort of struck me is how fun it is. the multiplayer shooters i played have mostly been competitive, where after a long time of playing it, it just devolves into who has the best what on their team. maybe it's just the feeling of something new, but TF2 feels like it's more about fun and teamwork than skill.

anyways, does anybody else in here play? frequent any servers? favorite class? map?

I haven't tried it for PC, but my experience on the 360 was horrible. I was constantly being disconnected from servers and it was very laggy. However, from what little I did play, I didn't really like the gameplay. Honestly, I don't see what everyone likes in this game...

Yeah, I thought TF2 would be stupid from the looks of it but after playing TF2 it was really fun, I spent more time then playing HL2 and EP1, never got to EP2. =(

It was alright on the Xbox 360, although I think it would be most enjoyable on the PC. I wish we could set up servers on a console...

I have it for PC. I don't think I could ever play it on 360. I simply cannot use the controller worth shit, I wouldn't be able to do my surgical rocket launcher shots or sniping like I can do with a mouse. If you're okay at using the controller it'd probably be fine though, though the lack of servers and stuff does make it worse.

TF2 looked awesome both before I played it and when I played it.

I had wanted the Orange box for ages and so it was required for me to "approve" of it, otherwise be deeply disappointing. The game was awesome for the first few days but gets somewhat repetitive once you get the hang of it. Very fun game to play once a week where as the Halo series can be played from day to day. :P :P :P

Eh? I played that game like every frickin day, 4 hours a day until I got my 360. Haven't turned on my PC since, haha.

Not that I'm sick of it, I'm just sick of PC gaming in general.

I'm hoping to get it for chrismas for the PC. Do you think It would be worth it to get it in the Orange Box package (so I also get portal) or just by itself?

I have TF2 on the PC. I think it's a great game. I really like the Battle Creek map. :)

I can't think of the server names though. And I like most of the classes, except I hate playing soldier for some reason. My top 4 are probably pyro, demo man, engineer, and spy.

In my opinion, it was a catastrophe compared to the first one. The gameplay isn't very fun, the cartoony look and feel is just... Bleh. The first one was amazing and I could play it for hours on end. This one... It kinda sucks and I was only able to bear a few games.

I mean, it wasn't all bad, I just really prefer the first one much more.

Just a matter of opinion then, I guess.

In terms of fun classes, I'd rank Pyro #1. Why? Fireaxe. Ever seen a pyro running around swinging a fireaxe at you? It's fucking hilarious. When you dominate people with it, there is no better feeling in a game. Soldier would be #2, when you get good at placing shots correctly, it's just insanity. #3 is demoman, though I suck at him. Spy is fun, though it is also frustrating. Sniper is fun, because I love sniping, and unless i'm getting this wrong, he's british.. ;P Engineer, oddly enough, is fun, even though it involves sitting around most of the time.

Wayworn, the orange box comes with 5 games for $30 more than TF2 itself. This wouldn't be such a good deal if TF2 was the only good game in there, however, there isn't a single bad one. I would, without a doubt, get the whole package. Even if you already have the original HL2, get it anyway (I already did). Portal is probably the best game in the package, and if you aren't thinking with portals by now, you'd better start. (In other words, get TF2 and Portal. By then, it's basically the same price as The Orange Box itself, which means you might as well get the whole thing as HL2+ep1+ep2 are godly anyway)

i prefer sniper right now. i'm a fairly good shot, and i like how it powers up when you stay scoped for a bit. and i got a good 6 kill streak a while ago. 5 sniper kills because i got behind them, then a machete kill when an engineer unknowingly got in my spot without seeing me.

and i'd say the sniper's australian, but i can't be 100% sure.
