<mod>PMIsland 0.9

Post by SL!P »

OK, first off, I'm afraid I'm gonna get flamed because I only made one skin. Half of me wanted to release it, the other half said I still needed to tweak it.

I got a little carried away with the pictures (I took 7 before I decided I had done enough). This goes against everything I've said about slow internet users.

PMIsland

PMIsland is a mod I've been working on for the past few weeks. The way it works is simple: 3 new vehicles.

I find it much easier to lay things out in a bulleted format.
>3 New vehicles; Pelican, Wraith, and Covenant dropship.
>Each base has a wraith
>Blue base has a Pelican
>Red base has a Covenant dropship
>Covenant dropship has a new reflection, giving it a more blue-silver color rather than purple
>Covenant dropship has seat names and vehicle name (what I'm talking about is when you walk up to a seat, it says "Press E to enter driver/side seat of Covenant dropship," rather than "Press E to enter <need string entry here> of <need string entry here")
>Covenant dropship has a better veiw, one which is better for seeing the ground.
>Pelican has a further back veiw.
>Crashed, inoperable vehicle in front of each base.
>Pelican now has 10 rear seats.
>Pelican's back is now open for you to walk in.

This is the crashed Lifepod. It has not only signifigance in being cover, but is a monument to my failed efforts at making a good lifepod vehicle

you failed to make a good lifepod vehicle because the lifepod CANNOT be a good vehicle. 6.8/10 for the mod, PMIing takes more skill than some people have, but you should just do it for the sake of doing it, have a plan and use creativity.

Unless you mod it to have super rockets that make it fly at like a bajillion mp/h, and if you fixed it so that it doesn't take a year to turn. Anyways, it looks like a somewhat good mod, although it would be pretty easy to do this. 5/10.

I agree.

Been done 45908604956 times.

(figuratively speaking)

simple to do... Now with harbinger, there's not going to be too many PC only mods, I predict. Everything's going to be in HEK and then converted to PC.

Sigh......

another mediocre mod.....

Why do I bother. I'm heavily considering quitting the whole modding thing again...

Don't stop, some of your mods are pretty decent.

It's just this one is all just PMIed objects, it lacks detail and gameplay.

Well, gee

My skins look like shit.

My models look like things that have taken a quick trip through a blast furnace.

There is nothing I can actually do well except unimpressive shit like this. When it gets down to the skill, I just don't have it.

Ok, You're just not spending much time on your mods. If you would take the time to make some nice skins for the mod and add some flavor into your mods, maybe they would be much better. Try working on a mod for 2 weeks straight and then see how well you did on it.

Atleast I helped someone.

Anyway, SLIP I want you to spend 1 week on skinning and 1 week on modding it.

I'll give it a try, but I'm not going to get anything out of it. Just a wasted few weeks.

If I was to do something really cool, I'd have to start from the beeginning, and after doing everything I did, I'd hate to do that and have an unpredictable outcome.

Just work on the mod until you feel like it should be released. That is how I am with my maps for Source, I never put out a release date until I feel it should be released.

I don't even want to bother.....

I know I'm gonna make skins, and everyone's gonna hate em.

As for modeling, thats just a royal pain in the ass, because you can't just model one model, you have to do every single detail. I can't one model as is.

The mood looks alright, actually :) I mean, granted it's just a few PMI's and such, but I think it looks ok, it's an improvement from your other mods.
