not exactly...

Cinematics are powered on by a script. What they basicly do is change the camera view from the chief to a camera point. From the camera point they are scripted to move to another camera point. While the camera is moving things may also move, but they must be either worked by scripts/devices/ai anything that moves on its own.

Another name for them are cutscenes. They are all coded in the scenario which makes them part of the level. not "inbetween" the levels.
