Brute Shot Model (3rd person)

Post by EchoRanger449 »

Well I wanted the brute shot model for third person, so i swapped the third person model with the first- however, now i don't get any "firing" sound.

I'm going to record a brute shot firing sound and it's very important to have that element.

So what I'll do with the sound is that I'll just swap the dependency for the flamethrower loop with a plain "sound" file (so the sound won't continue if you hold down on the trigger for a few seconds).

Now I'm going to create a 3rd person model of the brute shot. I studied his model a little bit and i think I know enough about how it was modeled to start.

CtrlAltDestroy, if you're still here, please check your PMs!

Now I'm going to try and make a good remodel of this weapon, but I know I won't be able to get it as good as his.

So... here is what I got so far:

I was able to separate the wiring from the flamethrower and I'll try to figure out what to do with it this next hour. I know that the flamethrower cartridge is the nozzle of the brute shot. So I tried to dimension it accordingly (the second circle of vertices do not exist on the cartridge for the 3PM, so it'll look a bit "cone-ish" if you get the camera right up to it).

Once again, if anyone thinks they can help out, post below.

I was able to separate the other parts as well. Observe:

However, I can't find the section that l33t used for his brute shot's center disk.

Any clues? I saw it in the bitmaps- meaning that he didn't deform the bitmap (the model section's basic shape) in any way.

>>>I've disassembled it even further- no sign of that object I was asking about. Anyway, now that all the parts are separated, I will offer you guys the model to mess with if you want to try to assist on this model.

>>>I just figured out how to do the blade. Now I need to shape and adjust the size proportions correctly.

>>>I've compared his blade with mine, so mine is pretty much the same size and shape now- pretty similar shaders too- it still has that nice clean "sharp" metal look.

Also, will a moderator move this to "pictures"? I didn't realize this will probably be better off there.disassembled flamethrower

As this post has made some major updates and since the first post is long enough already, and since I do not want to start another topic, I'll make another post.

Well, the hardest part wasn't the blade nor the other details, but the "cage". The cage is the section that contains all the bars that ARE NOT part of the shaft. I was able to do a lot of observations and I was able to get the general idea ZMT L33T had when he made the brute shot model.

It took a while straightening out the bars so I could put both parts together, but once I got that done, the model became much more workable.

Now here in the screenshot are two different bodies:
Mine at the top
L33T's at the bottom

I have gotten the points out right, I just need to reshape it (possibly move some vertices out of proportion, but hopefully not).

feel free to give constructive criticism (nothing like "why the heck are you wasting your time doing this model" type questions). Thanks :)

*Please note that L33T had more vertices to work with (1st person model) and therefore more ways to shape it. I doubt I can make it as detailed, though I will try.

I'm making the disk look a little better- identical so if you want to customize the disk with your skin, you'll have a circular bitmap to work with (nothing really deformed).

I'm getting close. As I said, I'm working of the disk.

Hopefully I can add more elements which will enable skinners to customize the model further (like the section near the bottom front of the gun that holds the blade- I will try to add a separate section for it.
