PMI problem

Post by keeper_of_toast »

Every time that i try to rebuild a map using somthing like a wraith, pelican, energy sword etc., i get an error message that says somthing along the line of:

Dependency was referenced that did not exist!
[2domyyyyyyyy] vehicles\wraith\wraith\
referenced in:
vehicles\wraith\w.xml

can someone please tell me what this is and how to fix it? much appreciated

No it means he didn't extract the Wraith.vehi to the correct spot.

Make sure you recursively extract it to your "new stuff" folder. If it's not refrenced it means it's not where it's supposed to be, so you either:

A) Didn't Extract it

OR

B) Extracted it to an incorrect spot.

the files are all within the build folder, and the files that are said to be nonexistent are in the same location

If you're sure you extracted everything right then I dont know what's wrong, But I am positive that you didn't, this message wouldn't appear if you did. Try again from the beginning, it's not that long to do.

ok, i've figured out what i had to do and got my map rebuilt. what i did was add a new plasma grenade to the level Halo to shoot out of my sniper rifle. i changed nothing else, and it shows up in halo map tools. In order to get it to be built into the map, i had to change some of the effects so that it just referenced right to the normal plasma grenade. For some reason though, i get an exception error when i try to play.

Please help, i really want to mod, but its pointless if i'm clueless

Rebuilding campaign maps takes longer and more experience. If you can't PMI into multiplayer, don't even try single player. Look in the tutorial section for a tut on how to rebuild SP maps when you're ready.

i read that, but i hought that you could duplicate stuff by editing the xml,
example change \plasma grenade\ to \plasma grenade2\ for every xml file.

or does that not work? When i get back home i'll give your tut a try.

You can do that, but i find my method easier.
Just remember to keep the search terms the same length!
