So I get to build a 'skate park' in my backyard...
I built a halfpipe in my backyard 5 years ago. If I remember correctly we spent about $500 on it and the dimensions were 4' high, 12' flatbottom (could of gone 8-10), 12' wide, 34' total in length after two 4' rollout decks.
You might want to consider getting green treated plywood to prevent any warping and rotting that may occur. It is more expensive, but believe me, worth it in the long run...also be sure you know what you're doing when you build it. I would keep cross sections to 4' wide, and keep the studs no more than 8" apart from center, especially towards the bottom. You'll need at least one layer of 1/2" - 5/8" plywood as a base (particle board is okay), then a 1/4' of a harder kind of plywood. Basically keep studs as close and short as possible, to help fight the weather, and it should last quite a while

heres some ideas for ramp over pit
1.move the pit
2.put pads on shed so you would go of a ramp and there would be another ramp in front of the shed you would land on then hit the nice cushy pads.
3. use your neighbors back yard
4. wait till you get a new house and then make it.
