Easy way to make New maps
ok through the file share we know that you can create new map links through the maps themselves For example: sandtrap -> seven seas
so what if we were to take the seven seas map transfer it to the comp, then edit it from there, send it back and load it up?
think itll work... any takers?

Yeah instead of storing a 100mb+ map on your HDD its just a simple set of instructions on where to place the items on the map(probably around 2mb in size). Also downloading large files in file share wouldn't be to efficient either.Supermodder911 wrote:yea totaly recreating the maps wouldnt be to memory efficent its not like bungie to do something like that.

Not just that their locked to your profile. And no one has figured out how to resign them yet.ScottyGEE wrote:hehe yeah would be inneficient...
I haven't looked at the files, and most likley never will for some time, but hopefully its just like "scenario\weapons\battle_rifle\battle_rifle.weap" for a placement. Which one would easily just change. However, Bungie verifies every custom map and gametype....
oh really?shade45 wrote:Not just that their locked to your profile. And no one has figured out how to resign them yet.ScottyGEE wrote:hehe yeah would be inneficient...

i have looked at these file wich only tell the game where to place new objects but its not like weapons/smg/smg . the only english part in hex is the name of the map and the patch and the description. you can edit them and play them fune just you need to resign them for the changes to take effect i have tryed myself.

Well, if it does not get to verify it will flag it as a "BLAM!" gametype. Which I'm sure will then force check it next time you're on live...But this is just me speculating/pulling it outta ma............tomg44 wrote:scotty, you say that bungie verifies each map. hy not just unplug the ethernet cord on the xbox and then save the edited map. they would have no way to verify.
So Ima stay outta this thread now, leave people who actually have an idea to this

Make that 56.5kb. Each map is 56.5kb big. (Not the map, the ... thing you upload)shade45 wrote:Yeah instead of storing a 100mb+ map on your HDD its just a simple set of instructions on where to place the items on the map(probably around 2mb in size). If you hadn't noticed the only edits you can make can all be found in the scenario tag. So i'd think of these files more of like gametypes which the game loads as the default stock map starts. Has anyone taken alook at these files yet? they probably contain values which overwrite those found in the maps scenario tag
Now if bungie hasn't locked down certain fields from being modified (aka the fields you are allowed to edit in forge) you could theoretically create your own custom scenario without modifying the map file, it wouldn't allow for much but it would be a start.
