Im 15. I started playing halo at 10/11 or something.. Halo 2 came out, when I was 12. I played that for a while, saw some modders, joined halomods...
So I've been around halo my fair share of time.
My parents know I wouldn't go out and pull what Jack Thompson said I would after playing a video game, thats why they buy games for me.
And my dad just plain doesn't care lol.

I still can't believe how old 5C077 and Chad are. I mean, they're both nice and mature, but it's weird imagining people that are a decade older than you are, but for some reason you can speak to them on the same level around here. I've noticed that HM almost has a second "age" system. If you use proper grammar, you're older, and if you don't, you're young. That has some real life truth as well, but I know plenty of older people with horrible grammar. Still, I've known the a/s/l of most of the members here for a while, so most of my descriptions of people around here are accurate.

Mm...
I don't think they should shield kids from these things so much. You get these overprotective parents who are against all these 'violent video games.' Well I can see what they mean by games like GTA. I think that the recommended age should be based on the TYPE of game, storyline, etc.
Say a game where you are counter-terrorist or something. That kind of game should be like Teen, even if it has Far Cry style blood and gore. But games that are much more suggestive like the GTA series would be a Mature rating. Shooter games aren't always bad. Halo is not a bad game because you don't aim to go around shooting civilians, you try to save the human race. That kind of game should have a pretty low age recommendation because aliens don't exist in our reality. However, games like GTA where kids might actually get the idea of shooting people, deserves a higher age recommendation.

I'm old enough to remember when games didn't have ratings...Personally, I don't see anything wrong with letting children play anything that doesn't involve sexual content, or "thriller/horror" type content...It's not the killing/shooting thats bad, it's the context surrounding it that makes something inappropriate for younger ages in my opinion...
Kids will always get into things they shouldn't...But there's no reason to encourage and support such things as adults...
