u could of searched for this but... Get HMT 3.5, and go to models tab, then go to a model u want to try at, select export model, and open it up in gmax???? .. thats for what model u want........*now working the plugin*, there is a little tab in the top right corner with a hammer on it click it, go down to max scripts, now in the drop down box u will see ur plugin, click on it, and there u go.................And if u just went and downloaded the files without readig the readme... put the plugin in the scipts/startup folder of where u extracted Gmax to...

Go there and download the OBJ and probably 3ds scripts. Then put the scripts in the scripts/startup folder like kappaX said. It is located where you installed all the gmax files. You have to put the scripts in the folder before you start up gmax. Then when you start gmax, go to the tool bar and click on the hammer. Click on "max scripts", a menu will apear with all the scripts you have in the folder. Select OBJ importer from the menu and click imort, which will then allow you to browse your computer to find the OBJ files you want to import[/url]

when you select Wavefront OBJ importer from the scripts list, a menu for the OBJ importer will apear under the menu for the maxscripts. It's hard to tell if it is running the script or not, because nothing on the screen changes. but once you click on the script, it will open up, then you have to scroll down the menu with the side bar, and you will find the interface for using the obj importer. There you will find the option to import, click on that, and proceed.
another note- once you import the files in gmax, they will probably show up really small. Just go to; edit-select all, then scale up the model. You will probably also have to flip the normals back to normal, because they import and the models look weird, but it's just cause the normals are flipped.
