Adding Attachments

Post by Genetic »

I want to add Attachments under Variations in masterchief's HLMT so that I can attach fire to masterchief's head. I tried to add the turret attachment from the warthog to masterchief, but that gave me a broken ident. How would I go about doing this?

I think you need to attach it under the biped tag. I know theirs an attachments tab their in the chunk cloner.

When I try to add the turret attachment from the warthog to masterchief, it says "The offset of the reflexive you are trying to paste is too high for this chunk size."

Edit: If I was to attach a marker to masterchief's head, but I also wanted to null out the head so you can't see the head, how would I go about doing that?

You'd going into the model for the masterchief and null the node fot its head.

Interestingly enough, I just wrote a tutorial for this. If it doesn't make sense, tell me. I write my tutorials for personal use only, so there's probably a few things that'll be confusing.
Open the chunk cloner for the warthog's [hlmt]
Copy the default Variations chunk to the clipboard
Open the chunk cloner for masterchief's [hlmt]
Overwrite the default Variations chunk
Open the Meta Editor
Scroll down to Variations -> Attachments and swap the SID to flashlight
Swap the Attachment to the object you want to attach
Open the Chunk Cloner for masterchief's [mode]
Expand the LOD reflexive and then the helmet reflexive
Click the Permutation reflexive and delete it
I know the last 3 steps are improper, but I wasn't completely sure how to properly null it out. It seems to work fine anyway.

Alright, I will try that, thx. And as turk said, you can null out the head in the LOD of the masterchief's mode by put everything to -1.

Yeah, there were two unknown values under the helmet's LOD. One was already -1, so I set the other to -1. I got blackscreened. :?
