custom .xbe

Post by Alex201 »

Okay, I'm making a custom version of halo2. How/where would I get a .xbe editor without hexing it? And If I need to hex edit it, how can I change it so it will put all save files in another folder or downloaded maps in another folder (no live! modding of course)?
Ah fudge, I can't get my pic to work. I need to llearn more BBCode. Eithier that or figure out a way to enable HTML.

There isn't an editor for it. Just open it in hex and do a find for "4d530064" changing instances of that should result in it not interfering with standard XBEs (Assuming you don't change the value to one being used by another game, of course).

Hmm. I know there was a way to do it. Maybe someone else knows more than I do.

I'll post Ultimate Settings editor, it's a pretty old app for editing the halo 2 1.0 xbe, it'll help you change the folder it saves dlc and files in, it'll even have a new cache if you change the folder, so you won't have to clear the cache when you switch from regular halo 2.

This might help

I don't think so, yelo edits the xbe on the fly, so if you can have a trainer, I think you can talk about editing the xbe.

Alright, I found the post discussing how I had done it in the past. It was done in conjunction with H2:CE.

Details:
Tural wrote:Ctrl+F (Find)
Select "Hex Values"
For the value, enter "6400534d"
4 instances should come up. On each of those, go to the hex, replace "64" with "65"

Alternatively, you could just do a find-and-replace for Hex values "6400534d" and replace with "6500534d"
Anyways, Anthony beat me to it, as did OwnZ joO. I wasn't aware TfAv's editor did that as well. Meh, it's been like, more than a year since I did any modding and such. I'll be leaving now.
