Umm well for one I didn't use winRar lol.
You linked to a bunch of mods, not maps with only pmi.
If you want proof I can mod then I can release it when I'm finished with it.
Yes, that screenshot does look like bloodgulch. Not a bad skin either. Well. Doesn't look like it took very long to make but I guess it's not bad but anyway, enough of that.
Also, thank you reanimation.

gj on saying the DX release didnt take long considering some of the textures in it were borrowed from that. im sure knight will love to know you thought of his teams work being referred to as "rushed" since it also made the outstanding section of these forums.LinkGray wrote:Umm well for one I didn't use winRar lol.

also did you even bother to reread what you said? maps with only pmi? ok.. let me get this right...
your saying...
i add a bunch of stuff to a map. dont make any of it active or in place. then i release it and say its a mod when in fact nothing is present till i open sparkedit and such and make it there myself? is the sky from a10 in there? what about a flame emitter? longsword perhaps?
the point im making is that when people make their mods they themselves need to find these things to pmi for their mod. the "mod" you released will only limit people to what they can/cant use. its basically like having to pmi all over if i want to add something else youve missed. and guess what? now i cant add something to it cause unless your super skilled you can rebuild rebuilt maps that i know of.
so the point of this is...?
your asking people to make mods of a template of things you choose worthy of pmi attention and not what people would actually want in their maps 100%.
as for not using winrar then it might be a good idea to tell people what you used to compress it so they dont call BS over your files appearing to be corrupted. i mean why upload something in something other then the halomods standard then not say how to extract it? weird....
btw.. you got a time frame for this mod release? ill be looking forward to be proven wrong. either that or i may have just backed you into a corner where your going to have to release something i guess...
to each his own..

Pepsi, what he's saying is that it's not a mod. It's a map with PMI so that many newer users that don't understand PMI quite yet can use it to create there own mods. It's basically for newer users to make modspepsi711 wrote:gj on saying the DX release didnt take long considering some of the textures in it were borrowed from that. im sure knight will love to know you thought of his teams work being referred to as "rushed" since it also made the outstanding section of these forums.LinkGray wrote:Umm well for one I didn't use winRar lol.

The smallest amount of objects I've ever PMI'ed was probably 3 or 4... =\ I wouldn't really say this is above the average mod. It would've been better if you had actually put the stuff IN the map. A mod isn't based on how much stuff one PMI's into a map, its how well you modded it and in some cases, the amount of work. Sure, you PMI'ed a hella lot of things into it, but without actually putting the stuff into the map yourself, it seems kind of half-ass.

yes but think back to when you started out... how many things did u pmi at once in a map? 5th time? 10th? sure this isnt supreme monoxide level "mod" (this shouldn't be considered a mod, more of an app... but why argue over that as long as it works,) but if a new modder comes in, complains on 10 different forms about "zomg i cant pmi, hmt freezes when saying "rebuilding index..."", this would save him the trouble.... lazy ppl (like most here, dont lie too urself), want a fun mod for personal use? they can just dl this and make thier AI and play, instead of PMI'ing themselves... as for the file corruption, im unsure since i didn't try it, but he should fix it...
point1... this mod is helpful to ppl that do actually need help in pmi, and can same average modder time...
point2... he should winrar or winzip this, thats his error
point3... you ppl are considering this a mod, when it is actually more of a utility, so stop complaining about "oh bohoo he didnt sparkedit import for my lazy hands", but consider that you can use those hands to import that in sparkedit in how long? 2 mins? 3? 5 for a beginner?... he should change the prefix to "addon" or "utility" or something...

well the first time i pmied about 2 or three items...
But then i thought my mod was useless...so i did a bsp conversion which is on this very site..
Ok this is a utility (makes no sense)
So, he could have added a whole dang map to this...
My second bsp conversion i had to pmi like 25 scenery, and remember to decrap all of em (that was just the scenery)...
Look, this may be useful to some new people...but eventually they will need to stop useing this, and just pmi them selves.
and why should i look at this as a utility...what does it do? i see nothing the map accomplishes except 5 minutes...(or that fact that there are more than a couple of items...15 minutes)

Yes, we get it. All he did was pmi a bunch of things. Can we stop bitching about it now, please? I'm sure he didn't post this to get 2 pages of posts saying "OMG all u did waz pmi a bunch of stuff in thar!." Sure, it's fine to include in your post while rating the mod. But 2 pages full of that shit?
The mod, its alright I suppose. It's been noted plenty of times that you just pmi'd a lot of stuff in there, but I don't doubt that it wouldn't be fun. It's not very creative, but its alright.

and the reason im complaining is that i dont really see where this is a mod?
you want a analogy of what im saying...
ok. you have a stock car right? it has nos, a turbo, intercooler, fuel rail, fipk turbo timer and gauges. if i sold it to you i could say it was modded right?
no, i couldnt. know why? cause all the stuff is still in the trunk uninstalled. sure its "IN" the car but i cant enjoy it unless "I" do the modding/installing myself.
to say the lest this is a utility at best.
i mean a utility is something that helps modders use for their mod. i see this as a template more then anything but definally not a mod.
sorry, my honest opinion.

yes, i agree with you, it is a utility rather than a mod...pepsi711 wrote: to say the lest this is a utility at best.

Smart beginners will use this a few times when they begin modding... if someone doesn't know the damage they are doing to thier imagination by using this all the time, I would prefer that they not mod at all. If they aren't able to realize what this utilities purpose is, I don't think they will be able to come up with a good mod anyways...(At reanimation-06) Well how will they ever learn to PMI if they just use things like this all the time?

Thats exactly what I was thinking. Maybe he was just trying to save some time for us?reanimation-06 wrote:man give this guy a break... he pmi'd some useful things into a map... nice job, you just saved modders half an hour or an hour... sure pmi is easy knowledge, but it takes time... isn't it easier if this map already saves you the trouble of pmi-ing? smart idea i would say.. and ppl are complaining "why isnt this a mod?" & "we need more pics"... you want a mod?? download this and go make your own, you want pics? go look at bloodgulch on google, or read what he wrote to see what is included in the map...
good job LinkGray
