Halo 3 Premonitions
As we have all seen, our preferences of games are evolving... Our intellect isn't amused any longer by unrealistic ridiculous games with equally unrealistic stupid timeline and graphics... Many games have promised much more than they actually contained... As expected from Halo 3, the game is beyond compromising... We have seen many fierce competitors release games to counter everything their rivals release... Gaming consoles are evolving spectacularly fast... It seems like just last year when n64 was the best system to party on... As we saw, each of the Halo games (Halo CE, Halo 2) brought the beginning of a new era in gaming; huge improvements, bright insights, dedicated fun, and so on... Will Halo 3 be the same, the dawning of a new era (modding, coding, gaming, visual capabilities), and if so, how long do you expect it to last in today

I think that Bungie (and most likely other developers as well) are starting to see the use of the whole Web 2.0 ideals...the fact that content is user-made, not pumped out by corporations. The movie recorder is a good example of that...more stuff will be available for the end user.

indeed... more and more, open source code is being produced and individuals have moved on to improving and changing major games in their own image... in my opinion, for Halo 3, it will start slowly (in some part due to H2V, but last longer, like HaloCE)shadowkhas wrote:I think that Bungie (and most likely other developers as well) are starting to see the use of the whole Web 2.0 ideals...the fact that content is user-made, not pumped out by corporations. that question would depend heavily on the xbox modding community. Now realize I said xbox, not halo. I'd love to mod Halo3 and play the crap out of it. But, there's only so much we can do on our end. We need those crafty guys over at xboxscene to make a breakthrough with modding in general. We wouldn't be here without them. And yes, i know there are the firmware hacks but who is going to buy large amounts of dvd's just to mod a game and see if it works? Not I! Hopefully the 360 is fully moddable soon, so then we can get to actually testing and working on Halo3 mods.reanimation-06 wrote:As we saw, each of the Halo games (Halo CE, Halo 2) brought the beginning of a new era in gaming; huge improvements, bright insights, dedicated fun, and so on... Then there is always the possibility of somebody somehow emulating the 360 on a PC and testing their mods that way...but i'm 99.9% sure that won't happen...ever.

The modding part...Right now I'm not too interested in modding halo 3, infact I don't care about it at all...That may change in future, but I predict it would be much the same as Halo 2 modding, and I've experimented with a lot of my ideas there already. Maybe there will be awesome new things to do with the equipment for modding but other than that I see no 'new' things to put in modify at this point.
I also believe that competitors will wait for halo 3 to test the waters of the extent of the customisation and then follow suit after seeing how popular it will be (customisation rocks, thats why I love RPG's)... Just to throw my two cents in, the whole customisation thing that I was reading with the pre 360 buildup, was one of the main motivators for buying the 360. So far, most games have evolved instead of revolutionised things from the previous generation...I want more customisation

Crackdown Is fun, but too short. I hated the ending.ScottyGEE wrote:Crackdown rules sorryreanimation-06 wrote:As we have all seen, our preferences of games are evolving... I like the idea of having to work for upgrades. One of the main reasons I played crackdown so often, once the beta was done.
With Halo 3 I hope that permutations aren't just given away but you actually have to work for them. I also hope that maybe the permutations could get built into sp and then only in sp the permutations have upgrades.
Something like to get the EVA you have to kill a certain amount of enemies with vehicles or something like that and then when you wear the permutation you have better vehicle handling and maybe the possibility of jumping from one vehicle to another or something else cool like that. That would be something that would make Halo 3 a must have for me.

Halo 3 would be perfect if it was using the Source Engine. It uses Newtons laws of physics and is perfect.

What? about the Source Engine? It is only available to Valve and is used in Half Life 2. Portal is a perfect example of using the Source Engine to its full extent with momentum.

Re: Halo 3 Premonitions
It wont be fully moddable. Each file is archived in PIRS or (forgot the other type). Which supposedly has a 2048 bit encryption, which is huge, and is signed with a private Microsoft Key. Without that Key Theres not much luck. Unless of course you didn't get the spring update and got Linux on your 360, and people start developing more for that linux. But I'm pretty sure MS servers sign those files, not the 360 itself.kibito87 wrote:Hopefully the 360 is fully moddable soon, so then we can get to actually testing and working on Halo3 mods.

Best thing to do is have a devkit for 360. ;x.
Or as I have heard, a hackable kernal.

Why is that?
Halo 3's engine in the beta was just like Halo 2's, which sucked.
