Characters By Team?

Post by DeadHamster »

Ok, I had a mod idea, make an Elite VS Spartan mod on Battle Creek, one team spartans the other elites, and have the level covered in flood stuff. The only problem is that i don't know how i would make the blue team elite characters and the red team spartans.

I already PMI'd everything i wanted into the map, now i just need to figure this out, and finish the other parts of the mod.

If nobody knows i'll figure out a way, i'd just rather not waste that time if somebody does know.

Not possible. It has been tried countless times, and the reason why:
The player bipeds use the same team index, namely <player>. Another factor is that you cannot choose to have a different biped for a team, you can however, have random model permutations, but they must share the same node/marker count, and that's only possible for Halo CE.

Sorry to burst your bubble.

That being, it would probably be possible to do it in CE then convert it to PC wouldn't it?

yes but that would take plenty of ce modding knowledge...

I don't think so, since biped permutations don't seem to work in PC that well, I tried to convert L33T's H3 backpack mod while back. The model just dissappeared.

What changes the player's color to the team's color? like what tag or file, or is it totally different and decided by the game itself?

I've thought of this idea plenty of times. But the teams use the same spartan biped, the biped is just colored differently depending on whether you join the red or blue team.

i had another theory on this, if the colors are actually .dds skin files, and not just like the character color selection, you could change the skin of just the blue.dds to an elite, making it look like an elite slightly.

However, after searching through EVERY possible map file in HMT and HHT, and going through EVERY map file in hex, even though i had no clue what to look for (i was desperate) i've found nothing, therefore it must be one of the two remaining places, The bitmaps.map or the actual game coding.

Hopefully in the bitmaps, if not that's gonna be the suck to make work. What would be great if is there is a program that can actually view the entire bitmaps.map file, not just view it through the other .map files. Does anyone know of anything like that, it would help immensially. I still haven't even started any of the mod, just searching for this.

The actual colors HAVE to be somewhere, so it's just a matter of finding it, and changing it. It WILL happen, look how far modding has come, and it's still increasing all the time.

I have a mod that sounds simmilar to the grunt vs. elite mod, its the humans (w/ a spartan and Johnson) vs. The Covenent, and depending on what color you pick you choose the model of your own character, i know now that it has to be a CE-->PC conversion, but unfortunatly CE wont let me host a game on my LAN or Internet, so if i made a mod i couldn't test it myself. :-[ [/i]

In the shaders + the bitmaps alpha.

FYI team biped has been done before by penguin and his CE mapping team (who joined with modern combat if i remember right), from what ipicked up random was the one who made the script for it and it was based on spawn points.

Ahh i see, so the script made it that half the spawns would be spartan, other half elite, and then he moved them to the bases, or something along those lines. Damn....

Oh well, im just gonna do a respawning AI mod, seems a lot easier then this. Go figure.

By replacing the tag of equipment with a Biped, it'll make it respawn after dying(equivelant of picked up) right? Seems like it'd work no problem, then just tweak the respawn times.

Oh BTW, where should i post a request for skins, in the PC discussion forum or project recruitment?
