But Entity already has a bsp viewer...
True, but take into account that this loads in quarter of the time; takes up approx. half as much memory; and will work on PC's that aren't all that great (One beta tester's computer couldn't run a bsp viewer before, yet this runs fine on it at 50 frames a sec =x)
You might have noticed from the pix that you can select pieces of the bsp/permutations and it'll tell you what bitmap it's using.. heh heh. I won't say anymore, but do expect to see this go through quite a few advances before the final v.
Anyways thought I'd post some pictures to build up some hype, but more importantly to get some feedback back from the community. If you have any good ideas that you think will benefit the program; feel free to post them here or tell me over AIM and I'll see what I can do.
Also, If anyone knows of any particularly troublesome maps that just won't open up in an editor; make it known to me, and I'll do my best to get the damn thing workin' in Prophet
Street Cred.
-------------------
Entity - Excellent resource for learning exactly how the bsp works.
Ant - Help with splitting up meshes.
Dec - For being an idea man ;x
eof post.. I'll keep you all up to date with the app by posting updates below
Ein - 08/07/07
So you can move permutations now, the movement is also based off the direction of the camera so it's pretty easy to use.
One problem though is the collision.. for anyone that doesn't know, when you move scenery you need to re-calculate the collision, if you don't you'll be able to walk through the moved perm. and it'll also disappear when looked at from certain angles/distances. I don't know how to re-calc. collision.. so if anyone out there is willing to spill the beans..

Still early stages, expect extract/inject as well as a few more things to be coming soon

@Pep's: I've never used SparkEdit before, but I do have my own ideas on cloning, I'll keep you all posted.

Alright, looks nice so far.
Suggestions-
Bump view- View the map with its bumpmaps instead of normal bitmaps
Detail view- View the maps detail maps insead of normal bitmaps
In-program collision editor- Move verts around, up or down, left or right
Mesh edit- Move verts on the mesh left right and up and down
wireframe+texture view- show wireframe with textures
Duplicate system- Choose an item, right click, duplicate (clones a chunk in sncr (itmc))
Delete system-Opposite of duplicate system
Hide mode- Select faces and temp. hide them.
great app though

If it looks like I was trying to be mean I wasn't, I just was trying to point out a few things that I noticed.plushiefire wrote: Suggestions-

Would make the viewer extremely slow

In-program collision editor- Move verts around, up or down, left or right
Not possible untill we can edit collsion, Also very hard to do
Mesh edit- Move verts on the mesh left right and up and down
If your getting at custom bsp's, not possible untill we can actually do that. Also very hard to do
wireframe+texture view- show wireframe with textures
wouldn't that just make it render normally.
Duplicate system- Choose an item, right click, duplicate (clones a chunk in sncr (itmc))
Good Idea.
Delete system-Opposite of duplicate system
Good Idea.
Hide mode- Select faces and temp. hide them.
Reason for this?
