Problem with new shield meter bitmap.

Post by Sh4rk B1t3 »

Hey guys, I have a problem.

I am trying to make a new shield & health meter and outline. Here's what I did. AT THIS POINT, I ONLY WANT TO TRY GETTING THE SHIELD BAR METER INTO THE GAME, NOT THE OUTLINE OR ANYTHING ELSE.

1) Opened HMT.

2) Saved the hud meters bitmap, the one with the shield and healthbar meters.

3) Opened the .DDS file in Photoshop, edited the shield bar to my liking.

Here is the original image:

Here is how I edited the image:

4) Saved it as a new .DDS file.

5) Injected it into the game with HMT.

What happens is that there is no shield bar meter in the game. There is only a health meter, and shield outlines and health outlines (the last two were expected to happen). What did I do wrong?

Here is what it looks like.

You have to edit the bar on the top right as well.

What do I have to edit the smaller one to look like for it to work?

Did you edit the alphas? I made a very basic Halo 3 HUD before so I can help.

If I did, it wasn't intentionally. I just pasted my own shield bar in front of the existing one. That's all I ever did.

How do I edit the alphas?

Actually I see 2 problems. First, there is no variation in shade on the bar. You need it to tell the game how full your shield is. Second is that you need to edit the alphas. In Photoshop, in the window where your layers are, there should be a 'channels' tab. Click it and select only alpha from the list.
