Fatal error installing redists/H2V-licr
I just got H2V and I tried to install it, and after a few seconds it comes up with the error-there was a fatal error installing redists/H2V-licr.msi. I press retry but it comes up with the error every time.
Has anyone else had this problem? How can I fix it? I'm sure the disk's clean and everything. The file is in the CD, I checked.

****!!! I got a brand spankin new disk, tried installing and it still didn't work! WTF!! I'm returning this again... the sticker with the "partial nudity" was on the case of both disks. I'm returning it and seeing if I can find one of the newer ones, with no partial nudity. Maybe it'll work then. **** this....

I doubt that. I told him I was on a notebook and he was like "o well lol i'm sure if u call ur compy man-u-facturer ther'l b sum way u can replace the card and install h2v!!1"

I know! I have 1.6 GHz too! The guy couldn't seem to understand it was dual-core and that halo needed at least 2GHz to run, and I finally got him to understand.
Anyway, andrew, what brand computer do you have? And is it a laptop?
EDIT: I just took halo0001's advice and tried running that msi, and this is when it got to the "gathering required information" part it came up with an error. Here's what it said-
Gah! I'm so close to installing the game I've been waiting to play for months! It's right in the *** palm of my hand! How is this happening?!

It looks like I have a missing/corrupted file. But I don't think that after going through 2 freakin disks that they would both have the same file corrupted or gone. The dumb mutha****in error wrote:There is a problem with this windows installer package. Lolz. You should have. Well... maybe I should get the geek squad down here, I mean they're smarter than the stupid Indian guys at any company's support. Including Microsoft's of course.
I'm going back to Best Buy. But not before I call Toshiba. This damn game should work on my computer... I mean everyone else's does, and they have the same exact specs!! This is crazy, I'm calling Toshiba, and if the indian dumbass can't help me I'm exchanging it again. Or getting the geek squad or something.
You know, I looked in Vista's event viewer, and found the 1st instance of the error. There are like 3 different errors for each time I try to install H2V. I'll post em-

And even though this one looks like it's all good, it's not (the game still isn't installed):Event 2 wrote:Product: Halo 2 for Windows Vista -- Installation failed.
And there's also always an event before the 1st error in each set of errors, but it's not generated by the source of MsiInstaller (like the other errors), but by "SideBySide"-Event 3 wrote:Windows Installer installed the product. And since it said it had something to do with Msi it must relate to the failing installation of the game.SideBySide?! wrote:Activation context generation failed for "C:\Windows\Installer\MSI9821.tmp".
