Do you need a mod-chip to mod halo? I checked all the other posts and saw nothing  .

yes you need a modchip
http://shop.system-mods.com/index.asp?P ... 206&2=1075

then youll need to go here to learn about what to do next
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php
i suggest you hit the newbie forum and read for days before posting there
Believe me you can learn more than youve ever wanted to know by digging thru their post archive, its well worth it.

after that you should have a modded box and knowledge of where apps go and where to get them

IM me at defectsk8r fopr more help if needed

*EDIT* DO NOT GO SOLDERLESS I REPEAT DO NOT GO SOLDERLESS
not worth it too much trouble,,go to radio shack, spend 8$ on a 15watt soldering iron, and learn to solder on any old electronic board.
seriously i never soldering anyhting in my life till i got my box modded 2 years ago and since then ive soldered everyhting i own, modded phones, cars, computers, robots you name it.

Um, actually you don't need a modchip.. there are alternate methods(although not as simple as chip), but can be done. I'm not going to get too much detail on it, but it involves 007. www.xbox-scene.com for more info

Hmm, this topic may be a little old, but to answer everyones questions, no, you do not need a modchip to mod halo. All you need is a way to transfer the cache files over to the xbox.
The common misconseption of n00bs is that a modchip is the only way to do this. There are other ways such as flashing your tsop, which you still have to open your xbox, or using other "gamesave exploits" in which you do not need to open your xbox.

I would advise you to look these things up on google.
A good website that explains everything is http://www.xbox-scene.com and the forums there.

No ModChip

Post by mfsamuel »

You do not need a modchip. I have set up several friends who have unmodded xboxs with halo mods.

Get 007auf and the save game hack. Look around you can find the hack, don't ask me. Use a friends modded xbox to transer it to a memory card or use a flash drive and xbox saves software. Once you have the savegame, load 007auf and load the save game. Should run evox dash and you can ftp to the xbox the cache files.

So, for the cost of a memory card (10-20$) and 007auf (10-15$) you can play modded halo.

If you do use the hack, I must warn you. Sometimes the xbox will go into a loop and there is no sure fire way that you can get it out of the loop. This means that when you turn on ur xbox, it is possible that it just keeps looping that little flubber animation screen, and it may take days, weeks, and months to get it out of the loop. Some people may be stuck with the looping forever, which ultimatly renders ur xbox useless. The looping thing happened to one of my friends last week, and he had to go buy a new xbox. Go with the chip. You'll be happy you did, I kno i was.
