I saw where somebody posted a link to that vid over on Bnet.
I watched it, and it was quite dark in the area of which the "face" is found. But, about half way through the vid, our subject fires a quick burst with his SMG, very briefly illuminating the area.

Is that the official texture? If so thank you for posting that i've been dying to see it.

I know for a fact that this isn't John's face, the point of the master chief as a character is that he is the faceless soldier, that represents all of mankind.

He is a man of little words and only speaks when it is necessary.

However it is totally possible for them to show parts of his face like his eyes, (for example moments of disgust or determination) or the back of his head, but in terms of them flat out showing him it will never happen, Bungie has always stated that they will never really show him.

However I must give total respect to Bungie for actually having a generic Spartan face under the helmet.

They should do a final cut-scene like a last stand against the covies and his helmet gets shot off and the screen just goes black

In the books they describe him as a child (Fall of Reach) so I don't see why not

Bungie has stated that they follow the books vaguely, but they give Nyuland pretty extensive freedom for what he does. Mainly due in part to the fact that they both go off on their own semi-independent story lines(game and book).
