all I know is that Sapien runs a check to see if you're running vista or not... so we'd probably need a hacked sapien to be able to run it on XP...
I can open sapien... just can't launch a .scenario file... it gives me a "###ERROR: this machine isn't vista!!!" in the debug. I tried dissasembling the app... but I couldn't find the location of the check in it... :S

Don't worry, I heard it doesn't because DX10 wasn't around for the creation of H2V and they didn't want to have to rewrite the engine again.PlasmaGhost wrote:Hmmm...If the game uses DX10, then I'm in trouble. I'll need a new video card

Unfortuatly, there's no way to run Halo 2 on XP. Vista is too new, and there is no emulation technology at the moment, and may take a while to actually come out.
But dollars-to-donuts, Microsoft won't make any emulation, because they want us all on Vista. That way, all of us either buy new PC's with Vista, or we upgrade once XP is no longer looked upon.
If there is any emulation, it'll be a third party, unsupported patch that Microsoft will probably release an update to prevent an install. But, keep your eyes out for one, as I know there will be one, eventually.

Hmm, even though I have Vista Ikeep a drive with XP on it because I still use XP for games like HL2 so I began looking into running Halo 2 on XP. Even though this won't work if you don't have the Vista binaries(kinda defeats the point) and it would be illegal for me to give them to you, I relinked them, altered the H2 Vista dedicated server binary, and I was able to get it to initialize, but it would still crash. I am trying to find out what could be the cause(I checked everything, it's all linked correctly)the error reads as follows: "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc00000fd). Click ok to terminate the application" which is different from the normal error you get when trying to run it in XP: "The procedure entry point RegGetValueA could not be loacted in the dynamic link library ADVAPI32.dll." So it appears I have gotten somewhere, but I still can't think of what causes my new error. If any programmer out there might know, please tell me.

Well, to me I would say that playing Halo2 on XP wouldn't be all that great because who knows if that software from falling leaf will be a bust or not. Let some tards buy it first and see what they say. That is my opinion, other than that I own Halo2 vista as of NOW but I do not have vista, I was going to update my computer majorly but I said *screw it* and went the lazy way, I am ordering a new system here in a couple weeks, it costs 745$
19 inch widescreen LCD flat pannel
Pent D Dual Cored
1GB o ram(i can buy more if I want who cares)
Radeon X1300 PRO
Home PREMIUM, never get home basic....bleck
And a 250GB SATA 7200RPM hard drive

How many GHz?
I'll be getting either the Alienware Aurora or the Road Warrior (Either one would be customized with the top Graphics and Memory settings hitting about $1600). I should have enough to buy it in a few weeks (off my 7 an hour job
