Playing around with halo 2's lighting was really fun when I was doing it ages ago (doesn't seem as orsm as yours
)
It really annoys me though, that the lighting engine in halo 2 is so incredibly awesome, and doesn't lag (and if it does, the engine usually switches to non dynamic lighting or just switches off), yet, you'll only see Bungie use it well a few times: mainly cutscenes and a few random places in campaign.
You know what? you should change some of the prt3's to be distortion_ripple.prt3, lower the lighting radius a bit and make that the teleporter effect... I'd be like zomg

Scotty, apparently the lighting does cause lag, at least it was experienced on theycallmechad's newest map with lighting, Hypothermia. It only occurs in high-activity situations such as multiple players and explosions, but it does in fact occur. I think Bungie's number one priority was a smooth gameplay experience and that's why it got axed.
It's not like they completely wasted it, it's noticeable in some spots like you mentioned as well as MP. The lights on Ivory Tower. It's worth noticing that while the lamps on Ivory Tower have realtime lighting and shadows, the ones on Turf do not cause the player to cast a realtime shadow. It's quite odd. It looks fantastic to see the light on a Warthog below it, but the lack of shadow is lame. There must've been a reason, performance I'm sure.

cool part is it deals with a bitmask i found that makes the gun shoot from its marker and not where the player points. Im trying to update the plugin on xzodia's site but frankly his setup is a little different then what im used to.
