What computer should I buy.

What would be the best computer for gaming and game design?

Keep the price range under $2000 please. If I can't get one with that, then please tell me how much I will need.

I want to:
Run games like Halo:PC/CE
Mod Halo:PC/CE
Make games, like my Halo Creator game below.
Surf the internet.
Ect...

Well, if the above is all you really want to do, then you shouldn't even need anything over $800.

alien computers should do fine donno price range. xps by dell could do or a reg computer if that's all you want. alien and xps is for gamers with pretty good gfx so you can play games that require more than halo does.

For gaming, yes. I got a laptop and regret it (for gaming purposes). It's nice for mobile use, graphics, web surfing, etc. But laptops just aren't the best for gaming for multiple reasons. One of these being they are a pain in the ass to upgrade. Stick with PC's for gaming.

Don't buy pre-built. Companies will ALWAYS charge a premium for pre-assembly. If you can, buy individual parts then find a friend who can assemble it. Reward them with a pizza.

Anyway, here's a good setup:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6820144047
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822145134

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6811154041

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817152022
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6827106072
for $1227.92.

tl;dr: 2x nVidia 7950 GT, Core 2 Duo E6700, 2GB DDR2 800, 400GB Hard Drive. The case comes with a PSU, you'd want to just store it somewhere as it's useless for this setup.

Integrated graphics and a low-level Core 2 Duo CPU. Like I said, with assembly, just find a friend or a friend's dad to help you and reward them.

Integrated graphics would only be good for a laptop like mine as it extend battery life.
If this is for a PC box, I would not recommend it...As in order to upgrade your GFX card, you'll need a new motherboard too...Plus the best games you'll play are from 3 years ago ;)

To be honest, putting together a PC isn't as hard as it looks. If you look carefully, they're labeled. One plug only goes in one place. Besides, Pre-built PCs can be a bitch sometimes.

Alienware costs too much for the price....the setup I got is (in my opinion) much better. I mean, you don't really need any of the 8000 series from nVidia yet. It's still early tech, there's no DX10 games out there yet, and most that will be will probably be DX9 back-compatible.

Building your own will always be cheaper I usually just buy a stock tower and make it uber with more RAM better gfx etc.

If you really wanna go cheap get a cheap dell XPS and upgrade to your specifications... it's be like 800-900 dollars but don't get what you dont need.
