I'm not trying to bring up any arguments on if the iPhone is better or worse. I'm just lol'ing now at people who think this is ZOMGCOOL because Microsoft made it instead of Apple.

Uh, this thing isn't for home uses you know. They are putting them in Hard Rock Cafes, and lots of hotels. Think, you can go out to eat and your table is a computer, you can share photos around the table and everything. It's actually pretty original. How many hotels/restaurants have you seen with table-top computers. I think it would be fun. Right now most hotels in Vegas have them, but Microsoft is soon selling around the US.

Seen it...

Oh wait, this is a different thing.
Stupid Microsoft. Been done. Period.

Also:
I definitely want my table to run Windows...
That'll be fun.

It's been done, But Microsoft incorporated more features. All you do is put your MP3 Player or Camera on the table and it automatically detects it and pops right up, with songs and pictures.

Fixed.

Come on...you know that's what it will do. Wasn't the Zune supposed to be this easy amazing thing, and then there's stupid 3 day limits on shared songs?
I'll give it to Microsoft, it is a good idea. But I bet it won't be implemented well.

It must be noted, of course, that only specially marked mp3 players and camers will be supported

Sorry iPod owners, you're screwed! :P

Yeah, why does MS develop closed systems with no free entry?

I'm sitting here thinking that was a really funny joke, but I can't decide for some reason as to whether or not you're serious. Oh well, Apple is making some progress by selling mp3's with no DRM in them, but they still shouldn't charge 30 cents more.

EDIT: lolz, do either shadowhkas or I appear biased?

What? biased? Not even the posts defending each other's respected company (I mean that literally) with giant images suggest that either of you are biased...If anything... I think FleetAdmiralBacon is the most biased person here...Look at him touting his ubuntu signature...Thinking he's all special and stuff...Well I got news for you mr biased! Ubuntu is excellent!

What if you spill food on it? will it Identify the food and have you try to share it?

Besides, I've seen plenty of table top computers in restaurants. only issue is, if they get touched by greasy fingers and such, their a pain to clean. For example, the video games at Chuck E. Cheese. you can't play Time Crisis because the gun is so god damn greasy and slippery. so imagine what a table top computer will be like especially if it reads by touch at a hard rock cafe. They got killer Onion Rings and burgers.

those two=Greasy/oily.

greasy/Oily+touchpanels ≠Good.

Thinkin' the same thing.

Yeah, no DRM is definitley progress, and to tell the truth, I'd rather download a song for $.30 more than to have to buy it more than once..

First off, why are you at Chuck E. Cheese?

Second, what the fuck is a game like Time Crisis doing at a Chuck E. Cheese?

But apparently grammar is not your strong side.

In all seriousness, this is a good idea if implemented correctly. The problem is, it wasn't Microsoft's idea. Multi-touch screens that detect what's on them were invented a few years ago. In fact, I'm sure someone posted a video of such a device right here on this very forum a while back.
This is old news, and Microsoft is behind the times. Things really aren't looking good for MS to tell you the truth. The past few years have been signaling the end of the massive "not a"-monopoly. 360s failing, Zunes just plain sucking, Vista is a total joke and complete ripoff of OS X and Linux (I've seen sooo many things that existed previously in GNOME) Plus, magazine articles saying that Linux is going way up in use? Beryl may kill Windows? Dell selling computers with Ubuntu preinstalled? Let's face it, now that Microsoft is considering Linux a threat and has resorted to stealing ideas from Apple, it's pretty much over for the money-loving giant. [/rant]
