What should we do with all these level convertions
What should we do with all these level convertions
What should we do?? They are all releaseing level convertions left and right! And wasting space in the files.halomods forums! That is why I put up a poll to see if we should make a rule for not releaseing level convertions with out beta testing it with a good modder and his aprovval.
(IE: Let only the GOOD convertions get released)

ya i agree
i think the conversions should be banned or sumthin like that
its just going to fill everything up until no1 wants to play them anymore
it would be much better if only good modders were able to do it and asked the community which level it should go over becuase if all the noobs go wild with them there will be no regular levels to play if u try and join them in the game

Naw, there should be a seperate site, where they are tested by that sites community, and if they are voted for as being a good map, then they are posted here as an outstanding mod or whatever....
Whats even better is have a repository, so people can keep adding stuff into the build of a particular map, making it better, piece by piece, until a full map is made...u know like flashkit is to flash, we can create a site that is the same kinda thing for halo mods

I see what you mean, but stuff like that can be solved with mod servers seperate from public servers, modded servers shouldnt be public they should be passworded etc, or something in the titles...we should have some sort of naming convention for mod types or degrees of conversions. I dunno, would just take an innovative site and some thinking about it....
EDIT: For example, people could name their servers like AotCR by [insert name here] with an id, like a clan tag but not, showing they are part of a modding association, then if someone wants to join, they go to the site, look up that modder, and see the maps he has made, then they can dl and join...

ya that would sort out the good conversions from the bad but again it still wont stop the newbs from converting
the password will eventually be leaked by someone and then the newbs will infect that to
its like a freakin virus, we mite as well send them to a desolate island wasteland to rot with no computers or food

And yet Mono still released it... lolHoboRockAssassin wrote:ya that would sort out the good conversions from the bad but again it still wont stop the newbs from converting

If we create a modding tag type thing, that would mean that the ones that are accepted are all tested and everything, i mean it could be made so that to actually join the association u need a decent mod to submit as part of registration...that would keep the shit folk out...as for people creating servers with their own n00b mods. Well, we all have regular servers we visit, like the jolt.co.uk series....those will never be modded with n00b mods...so just visit the regulars, not the ones that are seemingly noobed.
Besides eventually when we have enough maps, we could create a map pack, where dedicated servers run on a chain of the modded maps, we could make a standard for certain maps to be in this map pack, like version 1.0. 2.0 etc. All we need is to cement a community, because its never really been done, apart from this site, which we get n00bs everyday, we need a strong community...of people that come back for more, help people, and generally add to it...
We pretty much have all the tools now...so doing it really wouldn't be a huge problem...would just take time...
EDIT: As for the password, if only members of the site can see the password, it keeps them out, cos even if leaked, they wont be able to play unless they have the mod, which would also need membership, so leaking the password doesnt really help, just lets people on the play the decent mods...
