It's not a case of increased crime, it's a case of increased media and publicity.

Bad news makes enjoyable TV, and Interwebs.

I think the wording was a bit difference, but wasn't Stalin the one who said that?

in before jack thompson.

oh, and i agree with the whole people die every day argument, and i'd prefer if news stations would show more posotive news, or cover the new laws introduced in congress, because frankly, i care more about net nuetrality, the patriot act, and DMCA-related laws more then 3 people i'm never going to meet.

Gee, this sort of thing isn't suprising anymore. How many times have I heard that "So and so was proven to be mentally ill..."? Maybe these "mentally ill" people should be kept on treatment longer.

Screw that, you can argue that on just about anything. I'm not liking our punishment system. People like that should be hung on the spot. If they shoot themselves, hang the body.

I can tell.
But I don't think it will send a message. That kind of thing is viewed as "barbaric" this era isn't it?

Life in prison without parole would be much more of a harsh punishment than the death sentence. I dont see the point of the death sentence, you're just giving the person what they want...in a sense.

Not when it's slow, and it can be made slow. They do it to end the pain, and they can find ways to kill themselves in prison. This way all that was left of them at all would be destroyed. No good memories of them with their friends, nothing, and the whole world would watch. Maybe loosen the knot a little and make it take several minutes; heck let them slip out, catch their breath, and do it again a few times.

The reason people commit suicide is so they don't have to face themselves or what they've done. This would knock that shame level to the point where'd they would be screaming for us to end it.

There's this little document, called the Constitution. Maybe you've heard about it? I don't know, it seems to be an artifact for America in the past half-century. I suggest you read it, especially the little line about cruel and unusual punishment.
But hey, I can't be all negative! At least you agree with our system of handling terrorists!

That only applies to Americans as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who commits these sort of exacts against it's own countrymen, is committing acts of treason as far as I'm concerned, and no longer protected by the constitution. They belong to no one.

Cruel and unusual punishment is pretty much what I just previously stated, but I also provided reasons why it's needed.
