I still say this should be moved to the Macintosh or Halo CE section seeing as PC dosn't have the tools to inject custom models unless they work in Custom Edition

and
Image
you don't need that many faces just to make a cylinder, just move the faces and stretch it out, seeing as how that part is JUST a cylinder, but if you had some cool hand grip stuff there I would be okay with the high amount of polygons

to reiterate, I know you have to triangulate to get it ingame but that many polygons shouldn't be wasted just for a cylinder with some extruded faces.

And for future custom models PLEASE put them in the Macintosh section

It's not a "great" model, buts it's definitely better than some I've seen. To get really good watch these plain modeling tutorials:

http://www.fpsbanana.com/tuts/332

and cs]zero, please shut up, no one cares that you think some guy is a piece of crap. And your point about you "making a game" doesn't matter in the world. Try and compare how many people (excluding you) who play your game compare to the people who've downloaded this guys shotgun. Also, just because you "made" a game doesn't mean it's any good at all...

umm then whats the use of having that many polys if NOT for looks?

im gonna have to agree with Leiukemia the butt of the gun could use some touching up, and the grip is too high poly even though it lacks any detail

It could be alot better, but try to save the most polies while still getting the same-if not better-model

Well, I just explained that like 20 times, lol. You have to triangulate it to prepare it for the ingame engine, and that's what it turned out like. And no, Hawk is not zero. Believe me, hawk and I have had "issues" in the past, but really, if I was still pissed at him, I would've said he was Zero already people. So no, he's just [DK]Hawk.

I don't know Leiukemia, it kind of seems like with you that if someone's model isn't perfect, then it sucks. I think it's a pretty good model. I know you make pretty sweet models, but not everyone is that experienced right? Could loosen up a bit eh?

:/ not really. If somebody has a decent model that needs work I'll tell them so. Perhaps it's just lately bad models have been coming out to make me look like a bad guy. And there's nothing wrong with striving for perfection. There's certain things I understand about how a model should look, how polygons should be used, smoothing groups, errors etc. Also, what guns should have, look like and things like that. One of the reasons people like things like this is because it has the basic shape of a gun. OMG a gun. It goes deeper then that. If you want to impress me, you need to show me proper polygon use, smoothing groups, accuracy, and even good renders would be more professional.

it's a sucky model because it's a terrible waste of polygons and looks largely inaccurate.

enough said. christ, you people see something better than what you can do and you all start kissing ass, even though the lot of you is largely clueless about what a good model is. then, you start jumping all over the people who KNOW what they're talking about and start saying why this or that is not good and have a shitfit.

before you guys go critiquing anything... GET A FUCKING CLUE.

PvtPwn, it was a good attempt, but you need to learn about polygon distribution, form, shape, continuation surfaces and the like. when you start spouting off about "oh i'm so hot i got onto a team", know what you're doing because you're making the team standards look bad, and making yourself look like a fool.

also, your excuse "oh it has to triangulate blah blah blah and tha's what it turned out like" is total crap. if you hadn't used so many segments and sides, it wouldn't look like trash. Also, made in max and rendered in wings? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

don't ever do that again. F9 in max is your friend.

also, how is this a great model? no ejection port, no carrier, no rods... no. this is just bad.

Ok this is a horrible model for 3d studio max. It is a giant waste of poly gons and it need a smooth on the handle (thats a problem because that means more polys). It looks like a bad attempt at plane modeling. I it was made in wings i'd be suprised though.

Ok guys, lol, sorry I haven't checked on this thread for a while, that's why there is all these unanswered questions. Ok, so here I go:
No I didn't make this on Wings 3d, I made it in 3ds Max and then used Wings 3d to render it.
Um, you need to read the whole topic next time. Honestly, you'd only even have to read the first page.

gettin a little egotistic there? either way you're quite wrong. model does not come close to great...and the who the fuck is the emerald mod team? don't call yourself good unless someone else thinks you're good...and incase you can't pick up on that either, none of us do.
I'm not stupid enough to use that many polys just for looks.
....you're dumb.
Yes it has a lot of polys (3,000) because you have to triangulate it, lol!
no sir...it does not...

model is a huge waste of polies, why would you render in wings 3d..., it's inaccurate, lacks detail.
