Your drives are too full, it's a good idea to have your main drive C: at least 15% free, thats probaly your problem. But check to see if your video card drivers are they latest version avaible, though I suspect that if it's a direct draw problem, you need to reinstall Direct X, Get it here. Then run windows update to make sure that you have the very latest direct x version.

Try the hotfix 1.7 here http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/downloads.aspx, I had the same problem when I first got halo and this fixed it.

I've had this same problem and I have an easy solution that will work.
  • Go to Start and click Run.
    Type dxdiag.exe and hit enter.
    After the window loads, click on the Display tab.
    Go to DirectDraw Acceleration: section
    It will probally say that it is Disabled, so, click Enable.
    Click Save all information then close the window.

The enable option was Blanked out. I used restore points to fix instead.
