Re: not named
Calm down before you kill someone.bloompyle wrote:They are new ones not renamed do you honestly think someone would put a patch for an original map however it would be a good idea instead of having 2-3 gigs of backup maps you could have half or 1 gig of backup patches that you just apply and bam unmodded!!!

Perhaps, the solution here is not to berate the quality of an impossibly large mappack, but simply not to call it a mappack at all. Perhaps it should be referred to instead as a "patch set".
Frankly, I don't have the time or willpower to download each patch as it comes out. But occasionally I want to see some of the new mods. Of course, then it is hard to find all the decent patches in the forum.
So maybe what we need is a set of decent patches updated every month or so compressed into one RAR file. The only problem would be long term hosting.
Also, an application idea:
A GUI autopatcher that would take as parameters a large set of patches. Then, it would allow the user to select the patches to compile into maps. Also, it should allow the user to manually select the position, image, and description of the map in a mainmenu.
The idea is not so much an autopatcher as a patch/map manager.
I know that the serenity autopatcher is already close to this. In fact a simple extension in UI would probably make all the difference.
