X button?
so was the shield system in halo 1 but you still needed the health meter so you knew how much more damage you could take.Darco wrote:health packs would be stupid IMO, the shield system in halo 2 was great.

"X button" was more of a cover due to not being able to say what it actually is. Rather than saying the actual noun, they replaced it with "X button." That's the impression I got. Even so, my reply was directed at kicking, which has nothing to do with winning or losing whatsoever.DarkMetal wrote:If you think about it, they never said the X button activates something in a sense, they said they never had to activate the X button as an entity, meaning never use it.

There was proven to be health that was not recoverable, as well as not displayed on the HUD. If you want to try yourself, go use a Plasma Pistol charged shot to take someone's shield down and shoot them once with the Battle Rifle. Let their shield's recharge. Repeat until they die.gh0570fchurch wrote:There wasn't really a health system in Halo 2. If I am correct, if you take enough damage while your shields are down, you will die.

Yeah, they have health...And there are healthpacks and they work in the same manner as they did in h1...But can you find them in any SP levels without modding? no...
So it had a shiled system and a health system but they upped the shields and made it so you never really had to focus on them (like trudgning back half a SP level to get that health pack so you could beat a certain part on legendary
)
And I'm also siurprised on this x button talk.. I am hyped about halo 3 but to properly think about what a certain button can do is just silly to me... I'll see if its in the beta and probably not care too much there either...

Ok, so far, the halo games have followed the guidelines from the halo books. Most people here have never even picked up, much less read a halo book. Well, let me explain what happens in the last book. (The ghosts of onyx.)
Actually, first some background info from the book.
1. Onyx is a planet. Where spartans have been lost in training and no one knows why.
2. The humans are running out of spartans, so they start making small suits for children. They can manufacture way more suits way faster than the normal spartan II's.
3. What killed the spartans on onyx is sentinals made by the forerunners.
4. The forerunners are the humans.
5. Some spartans and some trainers go out to investigate onyx to see what happened to the other spartans and the patrol spartans get attacked by sentinals.
6. These sentinals are badazz. (Three legs and huuuuuuuge.)
7. The sentinals dont attack the humans, yet they attack any and every spartan and rape spartans running toward the humans (the trainers...)
8. One of the spartans takes off his suit and the sentinal quits shooting at him. (Prooving that the forerunners were the humans.)
9. The child suits are smaller, faster, jump higher, and are always invisible.
10. The ark is on onyx.
11. The spartans that were lost in training actually werent ... lost. They were found underground with some scientists who have been there for years upon years trying to map all of underground onyx. To which they still have only mapped a small percentage of it.
------------------------------------------------
Anyways, I will post more if demanded, but short and sweet, when you get halo 3, play campaign and beat it. You will love it.
----------------------------------
My dads predictions
----------------------------------
-The spartan III suit will become available as a character model for Multiplayer as well as a new elite. This is why - it will be very much balanced. The spartan 2's are slow, and are visible but have alot of health. The spartan 3's are fast, and invisible, but have very, very little health.
-The "X" button makes you do the run like you do when you hold "A" in Gears of War. However, this is not really good as a choice because in one of bungies updates, a guy asked, 'How many times did you press x just then?' - Showing that it needs to be just tapped. Still a possibility though.
-The "X" button makes the shield like in the commercial. This is because it would make for perfect cover in MP. Also, strategy and teamwork would then become a necessity.

And I have to go now because im going to see The Hills Have Eyes 2. So, I hope this helped everyone!

Just wondering because I thought I had seen a few posts with an "attitude" today by you. However, I understand exactly what you were saying and I guess I got a little carried away.Tural wrote:No. Why do you ask?
How would you know that? Unless you've read the book of course. Which in that case you should be agreeing with me...?Vegito619 wrote:Quick children, let's watch the validity fly away.
