What's the "proper" way to spawn new things on a map?

Post by Fleabag77 »

I've been using itmc, but even after adding just 10 chunks, I still get stuck in black screen. Occasionally it would load, but usually it just freezes. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong?
Itmc Tag -> Duplicate Weapon
Itmc Tag -> Display - Idents
Itmc Tag -> Change Item (0) to tag of choice
Scnr Tag -> Display - Reflexives
Netgame Equipment -> Clone Chunk
Netgame Equipment -> Set Amount Of Chunks and Clone
Add Meta To Map
Scnr Tag -> Display Idents
Change duplicated weapon Itmc tags to duplicated weapon (Item (0))
SBSP Tag -> BSP Viewer
Find duplicated weapon, move objects.
Save changes.

Yeah, adding too many itmcs will screw your map. If you want to add a mach (and assuming your map already has a mach pallette), use the object relocator in H2Core to transfer over the mach you want to use. Do the same for bloc tags as long as your map has a bloc pallette.

I didn't realize 10 was too many. :roll:

I'll try using the object relocator though, thanks.

EDIT: Actually, I'll explain what I'm trying to do. (in this case)

I'm trying to create copies of dune_gate on dune, meaning I wouldn't need to transfer over the mach to another map, seeing as it's already there. I created only 14 copies, but the map still won't load.

Right, but when you use the object relocater, at actually adds a chunk to the mach pallette (even if you already have the mach on the map), so you can spawn more through that rather than using ITMC, which is never good for spawning machs anyways.

99 itmc chunks is the limit. I've spawned up to around 90 machine placement chunks as well. In the same map no less. So use machine placement/pallette for machines and use itmc for weapon's/items. That is the correct way of spawning them.

From what I understand, each map has a certain limit, but yes, it's usually around 99.

That doesn't explain why spawning 14 of them freezes the game though.

Are you sure thats all youve done? Nothing else that could of possibly made it go wrong?

Nothing at all. I usually spawn things before I continue to work on the map, so this is all I've done.

I'm having the same problem as him, except with Beavercreek. I have already spawned about 4 extra itmcs, and when I tried spawing two more, it really screwed my map.

The map everyone always liked to use for more itmcs was Foundation. Seemed to have a higher limit.

But yes, spawn machines through the machine reflexive. Otherwise it will never be SLC.

You guys may have hit the limit. The game can only process so much. But really don't use itmcs for machines. You'll have more luck.
