man it's way too early for this, i say vaporware. plus do you even know how to put together a mass patching system? and why no extensive skins, most people here that skin know what they are doing and can make it look better. booooo this idea. wait a few more months then try again.

no extensive skinning.... many people will make it all colorful and crapy. this is like a whole new mappack that bungie would release. don't you get it
do you want the maps in the pack to look like this?(not saying this is a bad skin)

and dude just cuz u dont like it dont booo it thats not cool

I agree with Rotten it's just too early. People are just going to fight over BSP's and they will do a conversion release it in this map pack and it will most likely have bugs that will screw up gameplay because they didn't put any time in it. Why not call this off and do it another time? By then people will understand how to do this a lot better and easier.

The thing that worries me about this map pack is the size. Between me and my partner, the initial conversion SPPF patch was 101MB(after patching, the .map was 106MB). So say you choose 30 of the best maps, that is 3GB, just for the patches.

So you would DEFINATELY have to have a larger that stock hard drive to have this pack. Unless there is something I am missing about reducing the size of the map, this isn't going to be feasible for the regular modding community.

To the guy above me.

The maps that are going to be chosen for the pack will have to be tested, hence why the creator is asking for beta testers. The maps SHOULD have no bugs when released. It's not like the deadline for this thing is in a week or two.

This is true, but how do you tell which tags still belong in the multiplayer map? If you look at the tags in a normal map, there are still tags that look like they reference to another map, like I found coag_grass in our map. We didn't use Coag for our base maps.

What mappack has actually been small enough to fit on a stock HDD? Surely nether Killtrocity.

For the size problem, there's an easy solution: Make a multi-volume .rar file. Yes, you will have to download multiple files, and yes, it will take time, but in the end, it should be quite a nice addition to the many versions of Halo 2 sitting on our Xbox HDDs. If people can't download that much or don't have the space for it, then they don't have to download it.

I just don't understand why there is so much negativity. If the pack fails, so be it. Nobody has to put the guy down for trying to do something fun. He just wanted a friggin mappack. Let him have it. Lay off.

well maybe you don't have all all the apps a regular xbox has. cuz most stock hard drives cant hold both killtrocitys on E:// maybe if you put it on a nother drive but not on E://
and that was mean of course he knows to mod. how would mistaking YOUR xbox be considerd not knowing how to mod?

I'm not here to play "Who can be the bigger jerk?".

Yeah, you can put the patches on the HDD and play it off of the disc. But 8gig won't hold the maps that you need for the packs.

It's kinda sad that the modding community's respect for itself has fallen so low that people have to flame the guys that try to help. It's really immature, and doesn't help. Someone suggested a possible problem, and I suggested a possible solution. I don't see you trying to help, so don't tell me how my ideas are wrong. I don't see you suggesting a better one.

And eternal, you're not making yourself look very intelligent or cool (or whatever it is you're attempting to achieve, because I fail to see percieve your motive) by telling someone that they don't know a lot about modding.
I'm sorry u dont know alot about modding.
Real mature, man. Real mature.

Anyway, TH2MODS, I'm glad to see that your idea is taking foot. It's nice to see the younger portion of the crowd here taking initiative... it's people like you who end up later on doing some of the revolutionary stuff that we've seen here recently!

Hey guys, I just wanted to thank you guys for figuring out this bsp thing, that lets me fix my freezing issue in my Cairo Control map, and I think I should be the only one doing it because I started so long ago (Sept 06'). http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=48064
And BTW, the map is almost finished :-)

That has been done before, it was in the Killtrocity map pack 1 or 2. It will be nice to have you version in this map pack though.

Also do you guys think we should put the BSPs that are being used so no one copies, we should list the BSPs on the first page that are in use and who is using them, not all are listed.
