Yeah, I'll agree with you for sure... but a lot of the 'main stream' sig designers concider theirselves to be 'graphic artists' or something of that nature. Sigs are horrible... I know a few artists who make good sigs, but it's like, once in a life time that they actually do... they keep a majority of their time to real art work... I just hate most sigs these days, they're like Halo 2 montages, the same shit used over and over and over again... half of which they didn't actually create, they just coppied.
A majority of sigs these days are:
Brushes the person didn't mak
A 'style' that's based off of a tutorial (and by 'based' I mean 'coppied instance by instance')
A ''render'' that the person didn't cut out
Horrible text
No origionality
But yeah... I know what you're saying, the first sig I made because I was filming for an intro to a montage one of my buddies was working on, and he needed me to film for it... and the second one was just me messing around with stick figure animation sooo long ago, I just thought it was funny how I made the 'shield' and then the bubble shield actually came out in Halo 3... it's just such a random coincidence I think it's hilarious.
I've always thought the random MC weird-ass movements were really funny, so when I captured that tweak out sequence completely on accident, I thought I'd break it down and create an animated sig via Adobe After Effects... it was fun, and I think the animation is funny... And Ephrum coming from the Family Guy episode with Petoria... "Ephrum the Retarded Rabbit (Buggs Bunny)... the retardation of the MC's actions seemed very fitting)
But yeah lol, I get what you're saying with Mainstream vs Underground, and I completely agree.
