The explosive barrels are supposed to give off light and some of the visors looked funny, but not bad.

They don't reaaaallly give off light as much as they do glow... but yeah, I know what you're saying lol... altho you could probably say that glowing is giving off light, I dunno, my brain's not working anymore... but yeah, the visors got all wacky cuz of the whole 'real reflection' stuff haha, they're reflecting the scene... which is making them look umm... not good, gotta fix that too

The level's lighting needs ALOT of work, Lockout is darker and less bland.

That picture is from before Halo 2 was released, and you can easily tell that materials and lighting were updated before its release.

Every once in a Blue Moon will a noise map improve a texture's quality.
Bettering the quality of an image can be done by learning for about Photoshop as a whole.

I didnt mean improving it by adding a noise map but making the texture more detailed

No bump maps? And don't add noise to the armor, it looks bad... aaand... work on your diffuse/color change maps... the rubber A... shouldn't have the same texture as the armor, and B... should be more of it's own color... ;)

I do my color changes in Photoshop. I just set the color layer to multiply above the master chief diffuse, and mask off the rubber and scratches.

umm... no. it all uses the same texture, its just you use a cc map to give the armor areas color. other than that its using the exact same texture and detailmap.

I don't like that haha, I know that the game uses the Metal_Dirty on both, but it seems weird to me, so I mask it off...
