Every single new bsp map i try to look at in entity gives an error. WTF?
It wont let me open the new map in a program at all except entity ;however, it still wont let me view the bsp.
Could changing the tags path from C:/Tags to something like C:\Documents and Settings\DoorMan\My Documents\Halo Tags\H2 give me bugs in my map?

The maximum signature size is 500x120px at 75kb.

One thing that can break entitys bsp viewer is using a lightmap not intended for the sbsp. remember to fix that tag reference in the conversion process.
people if you are truly truly following every step correctly and still get errors, then you can post them. Please explain what you were saving and what level you transferred it to and the options used.
btw its ok to change the tag paths as long as you decompile the tags you will be using afterward.

Yes, the day you can create totally new maps is the day you can release them like CE... All we are doing now is releasing modified versions of Bungie's content and openly distributing it to anyone... CE also is allowed to be modded as halo 2 xbox isn't... Releasing patches is the only way we can actually distribute it as other people also have to have halo 2 and mod it to be able to use the files...iGeo wrote:These applications make completely rebuilt map files, like CE... so we can release them.Tural wrote:Full maps aren't allowed, you'll need to make a patch.
Yes its stupid that we have to make a comparative patch from maps that don't even use the same files (like the bsps, sound, scenery, machs etc) as the map we've converted to, but currently its the only way unless we make a new compression system to cater for these rebuilt maps.

nobody gets to call maps.... except iGeo because he has been working on his for a few weeks and we were going to wait on a release just so he could finish his mod...little_shadow wrote:

Its still bungie's files... Else it'd be perfectly legal to rip things from the maps because they're not .map files... Just like how we can't post the base files of skins (eg the warthog_standard), we have to release it as a patch, even if we modify it.iGeo wrote:Distributing rebuilt maps isn't illegal, regardless of whether it's Halo 2 or Halo CE, Scotty. The need to release patches is because you can't distribute Bungie's .map files, these however are not Bungie's .map files... they are rebuilt from the ground up.

Ripping bitmaps has nothing to do with it, rebuilt maps are allowed to be legally distributed. (<3)
[EDIT] If I'm wrong, please gloat and mock me... because I'm beginning to feel I may be =)
