What's that Mr. Roof? Much greater accuracy regarding reflections of your surroundings? Why yes, I believe you're right, I can even make out details of the rug on the floor. 8)

If you don't mind:

How did you acquire this skill (in all seriousness) with tutorials, people, the black art of halo mods, or with a lot of tinkering? Sorry, I just want to get better at this kind of thing and learning from somebody like you would be great.

But yes, completely and totally awesome. At each new screen shot I'm amazed the Halo engine can take all of this.

Edit: I read the caption after I wrote this. I am now officially 100% astounded at the jaw-dropping effects of this map.

Reflections of the rug on the ceiling. My friend, you have gone where no Bungie mapper has gone before. You have conquered the obsolete beast that is the Halo engine.

All the mapping basics were from the HEK tutorial. I'd never modded for any game before Halo, so getting used to all the tools took a bit of time. The stuff I'm doing now is all just created through tinkering. Then engine has been able to handle this all along, I've just taken it a bit further.

I remember in 2004 when I was making Siege, no-one was working with bumpmapping, so I just looked at how it was done with the HEK stuff we were given and then expanded on it. Same with the cubemaps now, the example shaders basically show you how it's done.

One of the chapters in the Black Arts book is actually based on my tutorial.

I've had many moments like that. Most with Sapien, but some with tool.

I hope you fix it. :)

Yeah, I just reached the filesize limit for multiplayer Halo maps is all. I got this after inserting the final texture for the massive window in the main room. I reduced the bumpmap for it by 50% and it fits in easily now.

CMT hit the limit on SP maps, but this is the first time I've heard of a MP map hitting it. At least it wasn't over by much...

That's what I meant. I've never heard of someone going over the limit.

Strangely, it makes the map seem even more awesome.
