Problem with SparkEdit

Is there another program I can use to move objects around on the map (and don't say hex. lol). I rebuilt blood gulch, and the map plays just fine, but whenever I open the map in SparkEdit and try to move the camera, my computer freezes. Well the mouse still works, but the machine doesn't do anything after that. Other maps still work in the program and I've tried multiple versions including the latest. Same results.

I noticed that in the little bsp box it says "borting_to_dashboard_please_wait." Which may have something to do with it. Does anyone know how to fix this problem or know another program that can achieve the same results? I'm not good at hexing so Hex Workshop is out of the question. Thanks :)

absolutely no idea how too fix it.
try rebuilding the map again. :roll:

and you could probally edit the map in sapein if you REALLY wanted too. illl explain how if you want too.

That would be great. Thanks! :) I don't have to rebuild do I? I've done so much modding since the rebuild. I'd hate to throw it all away.

i dont think you would have too rebuild but you wil have too inject a new scenerio tag over the original. im 90% sure this will work. heres a quick over view and tut.

basically what you can do is extract the halo ce bloodgulch with hek+ then open the scenerio in sapien. then any tags you PMI'd into bloodgulch on the PC import them into the bloodgulch scenerio and place them wereever youwant. save the map and compile it.

now for the tricky part.

download a Hex editor and run it. open the map you just compiled after editing in sapein. there will be a hex that says "61 02 00 00" change it too "07 00 00 00" then save. now open hmt and open the map you just hexed (it will work) and once you open it no-recrusively extract the scenerio tag of bloodgulch. now open the bloodgulch that you pmi'd the stuff into and inject the scenerio you just extracted over the original one.

if all the tags match up corectly (which they should if you did it right) then it should work.

Hmmmm...that still sounds like all the things I've done since the build would be gone. There has to be another way. I've never seen this with Spark before and never had any issues up until now.

it may just be a glitch :roll: glitches happen. i guess you should restart the rebuild.

i know, but there has to be something that can be done. the weapons will unbalance the map if they stay where they are.

Your tutorial says use the blood gulch from HEK which tells me i'll have to start all over again with a new baseline map. Heck, if I'm going to do that, why bother using HEK at all? Plus, I'd still have to do the rebuild first to make sure I get the snow and the beam emitter into the map. I'm trying to find away to move stuff around on the map without having to take a giant step backwards. It wasn't easy doing everything that has been done since the build, and I even FINALLY figured out how to make those cool looking beams since no one else seems to know the trick.

But thanks for the input. Any at all is certainly a start.

no im saying extract bloodgulch no build a new one. :roll: lol goto the utilitys section of files.halomods.com and download HEK+ use it too batch extract the CE version of bloodgulch then open it in sapien! :roll: that was a huge misunderstanding i think.

lol. i'm still waaaaay confused. must be a blonde thing ;)

I'm also unclear as to why I need to open the CE bloodgulch in sapien and not the modded one? Okay, so first off, how do I extract the map in HEK+?

And another thing I'm not sure about is even if I go ahead, extract the map, and edit it in sapien. what do i do from that point? And how does that effect my Halo PC modded map?

Thanks for the effort. I know I must sound like a total noob, but I never really got a grasp for HEK.

ok....

a). what you do is you load a ce map in hek+ then you click on the folder that says "bloodgulch" on the side of the window. then in the center of the window all the folders containing the tags for the map will appear. select all of them and then on the far side of the program hit the little "+" sign and then all teh tags will appear in the extract box. check off the little check boxs under the work "rec" for all the tags. now hit extract and save a tags list somewhere. (dosent mater where) and it will extract bloodgulch too your HEK tags folder.


b). if you read the tutorial all teh way through i explained that once you edit the map in sapein you will convert the CE scenerio tag ,whicch contains the information in the map about vehciles spawns, scenery, weapons, etc etc etc.. , into a PC scenerio tag. then you import it into your map and it will create all the spawns and stuff for your vehicles and scenery.


that enough explanation :D

Not quite but almost! :D

Okay, so I extracted the tags and it spat out a text document, but it's not a .scenario tag. Where's the scenario tag? When I try to open it in sapien it tells me i'm bad. lol.

the scenrio is in your tags folder in your halo custom edition directory. it extracts it there...

I don't see a scenario file. All I see is a .txt file that reads bloodgulch.scenario and bloodgulch.scenario bsp when i open it in notepad. I tried opening through Sapien but it wouldn't take. Am I extracting the tags wrong? I open up the bloodgulch CE, highlight all the folders, hit the + sign, and then extract the tags. Am I missing something?

Updates? :) I'm sure this is easier than i'm making it out to be. I'm a veteran at modding Halo PC but a total newb when it comes to anything HEK related :D

the tags are automatically put in your tags directory. hek + is smart like that.
