New Render + Animation...

Post by STAEDTLER »

I'm new to the whole rendering thing and so-so with photoshop. However, after a few hours...more like 6 or so...I've come up with this...its not a signature, it's probably gonna be the welcome page of my website once I get it going. My new gamertag is "THE GOLDEN SPARTAN" hence the text you will see. Things I've done are;

1. Hand made some sweet ass gold text (tutorial involved)
2. Rendered a pic of MC (tutorial involved)
3. Added Goldenrod overlay and erased all non armor bits so it looks kick ass (no tutorial involved)
4. Added 2 shines. shine across armor, 1 second pause, shine across visor, 5 second paus, repeat (tutorial involved)

Didn't add a shine to the text, wasn't sure if it would be too much. Anyways, this is my first official "render" and comments are always welcome.

ps. If someone could use the text and picture to come up with a signature for me I would be greatly indebted to you. I suck when it comes to trying to find or add cool backgrounds for sig's etc. So, some help on that front would kick ass. Thanks.

Thank you.

Q: Think either of the shines need to have a lesser opacity? or either of them need to be sped up or slowed down?

the armor shine could be smoother and the opacity on both can be lowered alot, it looks sorta cheesy when you see a somewhat choppy white line move across his armor. nice work on editing the armor's color, though.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

Yea thought it was a little goofy. Not sure on the smoothness. The more frames I add the slower it gets, obviously. It just seems to get REAL slow...Ill give it a go and post an update shortly.

Here is the 7th Column Emblem. Think I did pretty good on this, for animation and opacity wise.

ugh, the topic title lied to me. i thought you rendered that, and i was gonna ask what you used for your visor material, but apparently you rendered it, not rendered.

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the assumption that rendering simply meant cutting an image out of the background. In this case MC. Am I wrong?

i guess theres two forms of rendering, you're correct in that but you can also render with 3d programs.

theres a couple terms for rendering an image. Some places its called Tubing or cutting.

But on a Render, you're not supposed to really edit it in such a way you did. a render is just an image. It's not supposed to be animated. and when you do try to use it for a signature, you're going to have to clean it up again, because saving it as a .gif lowers quality, and subsequently adds a white stroke around the entire image.

Oh yea for sure. I know gif quality sucks ass. I always keep a psd or png backup of the original and main changes :)

Yea I know they aren't usually animated, was just trying it out :)
