Ok, throughout this topic, we are going to be discussing things people commonly have problems with, get annoyed by, etc. Just go with the flow.
I'll start it off-

_______________________________

First off-

Typing in such a fashion dubbed un-readable by the untrained eye.
Ex:
dude tht md is so col its unrel!!!

While an experienced user, with this format, could type this fairly fast, it is hard to read for either a person that types in this fashion, or that which I'm typing now.

On top of that, typing in a normal fashion increases grammar and punctuation skills. It also can make a person look much more professional, and easily noticed over a person that types in aim lingo. In the end, isn't this so much easier to read?
Ex:
Dude, that mod is so cool it's unreal!

Second-

Should the phrase no offense be done away with?
Some say if you going to say something, just say it. Don't pus it up.
Now if you look at it from an importance to the english lit. view, you'll see how it can easily change the way a block of text is viewed.
Does it really make sense-
Ex:
No offense, but your a fucking faggot who needs to grow up and quit acting like he knows everything.
The meaning is tooken in, but less harshly due to the fact x added in no offense.
It seems to me as it is used as a way out of punishment...
I do realize when used in a book, it helps the text flow, but when used in every day life, it's hard to say.

I will add on to this... lets just take it one at a time.

I am entirely for the first section, as anyone who knows me can tell you. Anyone who chooses to type like that is either very immature, or very ignorant.

Second; in the sense you used it, yes. However, in some cases, it is used in a proper manner. For instance, when you want to inform someone of something, but know they tried their best, you can't really tell them "You suck at modding, GTFO my internets."

For example: "No offense, but this is really bad."

What about over-used abbrivations? How many times do you said something funny, and instead of getting a reply such as "Haha, dude that's hilarious," you in place get the reply "LOLZ! ZOMG!!! TEH FUNY SHIZ!!1!11!11!" Then the people "making fun of them" by said lawl don't help much.

I don't have a problem with acronyms, but saying something like "lol" on a forum is pointless.

I commonly use lol, rofl, and lmao without thinking much of it. Infact, it doesn't bother me unless it's used the way you used it.

Edit: Actually, I can't really stand it when people type in all caps.

I say...forum is a message/bulletin board, it's not a conversation.

It doesn't matter how quick you type your thoughts out, so take your time, and type something coherent, spell check your stuff, etc.

I agree to an extent. I used to type with aim lingo on aim, now I type with complete sentences. But on aim (or any chat program for that matter), it's really your - and the people that your chatting withs - preferences.

I talk in complete sentences and stuff to people on Halomods/forums, but to my friends, I just type in lowercase...

Like I'll use apostrophes, but I don't capitalize "I"s, use periods, capitalize the first letter of any sentences, etc. No one else at my school bothers typing correctly, so meh.

Same here. I don't bother typing as well as I do on a forum because on AIM it's not going to be there where everyone can see how bad you type.

Well, I don't know if our "annoyances" have to be forum related, but I didn't see it in the first post, so anyways, something that really annoys me is when people use AIM abreviations in real life. Like if somone actuallys says "BRB" or "LOL" in real life, I want to punch them in the face. Thankfully, only a select few people actually do that. But anyways, I use abbreviations like that in aim alot, just because its a quick way to express an emotion, though I don't use them as much in a forum, just because I have more time to write on a forum.

I've only heard someone say "brb" in real life once.

Or maybe my brain is just making stuff up and I think I'm remembering it.

Yer, I'll type correctly on a forum but I won't bother when talking to my friends who usually won't bother at all, so I'm the same as Gametag. I'll still use the abbreviations of 'lol' etc. on msn because its easy rather than saying "I just laughed out loud."

I've said "bee are bee," "lawl," and "oh em gee," in real life and over voice chats many times. It's only done ina sarcastic or humorous manner and around company who will understand why I'm using it.
