PS3 or Wii?
They do that with every console. They make the money off of the software.

They are selling video game systems for $600!?!? That money could be used for better purposes.foxfanatic23I7 wrote:I think it is hilarious that a sony playstation 3 costs $800 dollars to make one, and they are selling them for $600. I learned that one the news.

PS3...not because it's better, but because you can buy it for a shitload and sell it for a lot more.
My brother stood outside a Target for hours until he bought one...hell, someone even offered him $800 to take his place in line. However, he refused. He got a PS3, and he's planning on selling it for over $2000.

No one is going to buy a PS3 for $2000. Anyone that is hardcore enough to pay that much would just assume stand in line, and pay $1400 less.RaVNzCRoFT 3 wrote:PS3...not because it's better, but because you can buy it for a shitload and sell it for a lot more.

There is a reason that everyone that is standing inline for this "anticipated" "hyped up" system are resalers. Everyone just wants to try to make a profit, and no one actually wants to play it.
I'm going to laugh at people who buy like 5 and think they're going to make a profit. Then they realize that no one wants them, and they just wasted $3000+

You'd be very, very surprised. Note the price tags and the number of bids per sale.Evolved wrote:No one is going to buy a PS3 for $2000. They must be legitimate. If you jack up the price and win the bid, you must pay or eBay can sue you for fraud. Many of those bids are people buying the PS3 for holiday gifts--people that don't have the time to wait in line for them.Evolved wrote:I guarantee that over half of those bids are from hacked accounts and people just being assholes, jacking up the price.
If my kid wanted a PS3 and I only could get it at eBay, I'd say "fuck off, you can wait 2 months."RaVNzCRoFT 3 wrote:They must be legitimate. If you couldn't sell it for more than $700, you could always return it for what you paid for. The Xbox 360s were selling for around $800-$1300. I remember Locke got something around that for his. I'm sure that if people were willing to pay that much for the 360, that there will be some willing to pay that for the PS3.Evolved wrote:I'm going to laugh at people who buy like 5 and think they're going to make a profit. Yeah, I heard that some kid camped outside waiting for 3 days, then got the PS3 and as soon as he got home and almost inside someone came up to him and stole it...
I also heard that some people in Florida (Where I live) were saying they should have let people who were outside go inside and wait because it was cold (Yes, it gets cold in Florida, it may not be nothing to people who live up north but to us 65 F is freezing to us). I mean that is pretty stupid is that they go camp there but demand to wait inside...

I don't understand how people can spend so much money on something so unimportant, I mean video games are great and all, and I know the PS3 is an amazing little machine, but I mean, $2000-$14000(ebay) for a damn video game system, is it really worth it? Geez people these days, you could buy a CAR for that much. I don't get what is wrong with these people, can you not wait a couple of months for the lines to die? do you HAVE to spend 10 grand on it? do you HAVE to wait in line for 60 hours? It's really not that important.
OK I'm done.
