Total Noob Question
I'm totally new to modeling, mapping, modding, etc... I was wondering how you can convert a halo map (.map) into a 3d model (.3ds)?

This converts it into a .obj, you'll need a .scenario_structure_bsp http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=2029
Extract the .scenario_structure_bsp with this. http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?pg=3&fid=1542
Use this to convert it to a 3ds from .obj http://www.anim8or.com/main/index.html

Where exactly are the textures located in the resource browser (HMT)?crackcocaine wrote:Extract them using HMT and convert it from a DDS to a .tif. Then just add it into the material editor in 3ds max. In the HEK tutorial it shows you how to texture your map. The tutorial should be in your Halo Custom Edition folder.
