Limewire Virus

Post by UntoldLegendxx »

Ok on my parents computer upstairs. They have been telling me that my brother's program Limewire keeps opening up if you close it. I did some research and found out it's a virus or worm that causes that. Well i did a free online virus scan and it seems it's been there for quite some time. He has 80000+ files infected with a virus. If i am to clean the pc of the virus. Would that mean that those 80000 files are gone, there's some important files on the computer that aren't backuped according to my parents?

Yea, they would be deleted.

Never use limewire. It, itself is a virus... Seriously

i suppose if the infection is THAT bad, you should backup all important files (financial and business info, family pictures, etc.) and keep it on some sort of removeable media and re-install windows (reformatting the hard drive in the process) with the cds that came with your computer. then, before putting those files back onto your computer, scan them with a virus/spyware scanner and hope they aren't infected.

otherwise, the online scan may be trying to get you to buy a product by making you think your computer is badly infected, so use spybot, and avg anti-virus before you do anything else. it never really hurts to get a second opinion.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>
