General Halo (PC) Multiplayer Modding

Post by Zhade »

A friend and I want to mod Halo to improve the multiplayer experience.
We wanted to ask a few gametypes and maps, no skins. The maps shouldnt be a problem, but the gametypes will be become a very big one.
I am not going to make any requests about "Can you make..." but I'd like to ask if you genius people could add some scripting tutorials about the AI, so we can make them walk certain paths. Also we would like to make some sort of buy-system; renegade style:
Kills give you credits. You can buy weapons and vehicles with these credits. (Now that I think of it..the only skinning will include a buy-console, but it should be that much of a problem).
Another thing would be the spawning of creatures.. :)

I hope I'm asking not too much.. heheh.. keep up the good work!

umm im quite a newb to this but what your asking seems to me like ti would be an extrmely diffucult proccess considering the AI would be a hard thing to tinker with, i could be wrong though

No you're correct, it would be quite hard.

do you want to edit the AI?
That seems as if it would be quite difficult

What you are asking is currently impossible. (As far as I know) Kornkob, Dmauro, and I are back to working on bots, and we are working on it hard. For as much work as we have done, we are still not done mapping out all the AI structs. Hopefully when we are finished we will be able to answer a few questions, but for now, concentrate on other things.

bots arent in this game for a reason.
they work in games like unreal tournament because those are just shoot everything that moves types of games.
you could never get a bot to be as good as a human player. yes, you could put in botpaths but then they would be too predictable also.

Anything is possible... Like right now for IronForges list, im guessing 3000 offsets? Thats like 24000 numbers. But the level has many more numbers than that in code. Someone just has to go much more in depth with offsets and stuff.

not impossible by any means.. the ai already follows certain paths, there is a certai nscript that says how wide the radious is that it can wander from these paths is.. just find that and change

for credits.. go to staples and get a pad of paper and pen (or pencil, ur choice) then the buy system.. iunno im too lazy, ill tell u tommororw or l8r..

Yeah, well making changes to the already existing AI paths would be fine, but there's absolutely no AI at all in the multiplayer maps. You could probably add it in except for the size limit of a map file. We'll probably have to wait for the SDK.
On a pale horse with other allusions...

Make full-screen movies, get the cameraman ppf here.

I remember to read about a Halo script editor called Guerilla which sounded like the tool for AI scripting and stuff. I might be wrong, tho. Here's my source (old GameSpy preview).

Yeah, thought so. Just wasn't sure and didn't have the time to cross-check. :)
